me(abridged)

Hi! I'm Melody. I am from a tiny town in Texas, though I now live in Louisiana since that is where my University is located. Hitchhiker didn't have much of a following in the U.S. pre-movie, but I was always a Monty Python fan and was led to the Hitchhiker series through that. The fact that so few people had heard of it, much less read it before the movie trailers started appearing made it an invaluable tool in assesing potential friends. The odds were that if they were familiar with Hitchhiker then we would get along just fine. All I had to do was slip a quote or vague reference into one of our first conversations and if they knew what I was talking about, then I had a great new friend. Finding people who understood my glee at the mention of the number 42 was difficult.
Moving on....
I am studying acting with a focus in musical theater performance, so I can often be found in my apartment singing and dancing, and often talking to myself. This worries my roomate a bit, but I have explained to her that when I talk to myself I am usually just trying to learn lines, or practicing a monologue. I am also working on the writing of a play currently which often involves me starring at my computer screen for long periods of time and eventually giving up and chatting with my friends on aim. I have about 30 minutes of dialogue so far.
thefacebook.com also takes up vast amounts of my time these days. It is an addictive little website. The basis of it is that university and college students join and then you can look up people by classes you have in common, friends you have in commmon, or shared interests. You can also search randomly for people at your university. There is also a nifty feature were you can look up all of your old high school classmates. It lists all of your friends, and can make you feel exceedingly popular by spelling out quite clearly that you have 130 friends. This can be extremely useful if you are having a bad day. The most addictive feature, however, is the groups. You can create and join groups of people in which you can share all of your opinions and share news. You can even be invited to parties by facebook. I'm not really sure now that I have typed all of this why facebook is relevant, but I have just been spending so much time fooling around with it.
I also have an obsession with high school American football. University and professional level teams just aren't the same. If you have ever seen the movie Friday Night Lights, that is really what its like in Texas. Everyone loves football. The comraderie, the greasy food, the violence.....what more could you want from a Frdiay night?
As long as I'm going on about my obsessions, I should mention Family Guy. I have seen every episode ever made at least twice. Its just incredibly funny, at least I think it is. So is King of the Hill. King of the Hill is especially funny because it reminds me of some of the people I grew up with (not sure I should admit that, but oh well).
Well, I believe I wil shut up now. I'm already a bit worried that this is far too long, but it 2:40 am, and I tend to ramble a bit when I have been awake for this long.
Before I stop though I just want to say "Please someone talk to me!" Otherwise I might get very depressed and have to go look at thefacebook until I feel better. :)
