O poor J'au!

I was just so excited about the Christmas cake...and my Mum demands to know what i want for Christmas about now...but actually I totally agree with you.

In the States they have Halloween, then Thanksgiving and then Christmas so everyone has a different festival each month through the dark days. It works very well over there and it also makes sure Christmas doesn't start until 26th November.

Mind you, it's over by 1pm on Dec 25th which isn't much fun either!

xx

I believe in the twelve days of Christmas being *after* Christmas. I'm fed up with this whole 'anticipate, anticipate, anticipate' thing that society is going through right now. I mean, whenever a report is out they say, 'tomorrow a report on such-and-such will be published. It is expected to say blah, blah blah' - why couldn't they have waited 'till the day?
And then, the other day, I realised it was a month after the anniversary of Septempber the 11th. And I realised that there was enough fuss before hand to make me completely sick, and it all died down within a week of the anniversary taking place.

smiley - smiley Still, it is time to bake the cake right about now... smiley - cake

I was the wicked stepmother *three times* in the Divali play when I was in primary school! (typecast or what)

Happy Divali! (I used to know the proper greeting for Divali, but I've long since forgotten...)

One of the things I liked about working at the World Service is that they have a policy against 'announcing' things. They just report them when they happen.

I'm with you (again - this is worrying! smiley - smiley).

And happy Diwali to you Gnashers! Are you also celebrating Ramadan? No food (nor sex) in daylight hours.

My best friend at primary school was muslim, and he didnt fast, because he wasnt old enough [i think]

I do remember that he was susceptible to fainting fits though, and he used to not like reading out loud...so when it was his turn to read, on the day [a thursday methinks], he used to come to school wearing this massively thick woolen jumper all year round [in summer, naturally hot, in winter central heating made it hot], so he'd collapse just as he went up to read...smiley - erm except once he was sick whilst he was under, all over his book....

Not really relevant, but it still makes me laugh!

Outrageous! Usually I'm glad to be as tough as an old boot...but something like that could come in useful...

smiley - biggrin He was only 8-9!! After that little spate, he always used to pretend to faint to wind me up...and when we were in yr 6, he did so, and I was going 'Not gonna fall for it this time'..and the headmaster walked by and goes. 'Hes fainted!' ANd he had: boy was my face red!
