Towel Day
Posted May 29, 2001
Did all of you remember the Towel Day? I know some thought it was a idiotic thing, but then I am idiotic! This was what I did:
Woke up, remembering it was the towel day and had my big yellow one around my neck while eating breakfast. Tied it around my waist after I had brushed my teeth and get suitably dressed.
Bored myself to death in the apartment, but then I thought "Hey, why don't take the towel out for a ride?" so then I biked all the way down to the historic building formely known as "Eidsvollsbygningen" ("The building of Eidsvoll") with nothing more than a laptop, The More Than Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and of course, the towel around my waist.
I went to my favourite place; The feet of the great statue of Henrik Wergeland and started reading. It soon got cold, so I did as every hitchhiker would do; I wrapped it around my shoulders.
Sitting there, at the feet of a historical statue, giggling and with this yellow towel around me, I of course *did* get some strange looks. A whole bus of german students thought either I was crazy or it was just what we Norwegians often do around here.
A English couple though, were curious enough to ask me why I had this funny-looking appearance, and I merely told them. They didn't think it was strange nor idiotic.
After a while I got hungry and went down the the nearest cafè ('Nebbenes') to get some free icecubes. Then I went home and continued to have the towel tied around my waist until I went to sleep.
As I mentioned in the start, I know some of you didn't approve the towel day and said it was too silly; I'm sure it's just you guys who are afraid that you would ridicule youself while honouring this great man.
Let me remind you; I *never* act crazy; Most people I know would call me boring or wimpy: So then I thought, Adams's worth ridiculing yourself for! As another great author once said: "The world is a stage and we're merely players."
P.S.: My first attempt on writing a guide entry (A554762) obviously flopped. No one seemed to get that this really is a tradition on almost every Junior College in Norway and not a thing I just thought up! Though, my second attempt (A554762)looks like a hit. Well, well...

I made it! (well, almost): 1+7-2*(2+0-9) = -42
Does it count when it's negative? Let's say so...

I had some minor problems today: I was kind enough to register my sister to h2g2, and when I was done, I had to log myself in again...
And there was my problem: I could neiter remember my BBC login name nor my password!
I had to register myself again under another name to make contact with anyone in the h2g2 stab. So thank you, Abi, for straighten things up!
So that's it, really (I ask myself; Why do I say that constantly?) Wait, no: I am on the list of Scouts now (or at least I am told so), so when am I going to get my cool badge on my site? And when is someone going to take a look on my guide entry, "The Tradisions of a Norwegian Graduant" (I am proud of it!)?
I suddenly remembered that it is one exact week since Adams passed away. (Gee, time runs fast when you're mourning...) No, I'm counting! I promised myself I wouldn't count..!

I have switched nickname from 'TC IV' over to 'Tilly', simply because I think it's prettier, and the fact that I got rather tired of explaining why I call myself 'TC IV'...
No; This does NOT mean that I'm all done mourning over Adams.
I miss him. I will always miss him.
He was like a friend of mine, even though I only knew him through his books, and yet...
