when the students heard that a great master was giving a discourse atop ryys. they decided to brave the difficult terrain that separated their valley from the mount and go to listen to the great master. they started two weeks in advance as per their estimate. but early on their way, they started realizing that the terrain and climate was tougher than they expected. everyone was getting disheartened and was talking about returning. finally, they decided to stop and have a formal meeting. then lohe spoke up 'brothers i am the only one who has been through this terrain before, so you must trust me. the hard weather and difficult terrain does not last for long. very soon it will be clear skies and smooth terrain.' most of the students were convinced and resumed their journey, while a few went back saying 'he's lying.'
after a couple of days, the weather got worse. the students camped and had a formal meeting again. 'we are going really slow, at this rate we may not reach ryys on time.' said one. 'if we reach ryys at all.' said another angrily. then lohe spoke up 'the weather got worse because of a minor irregularity, it will not last more than a few hours. and we are not behind schedule at all, i am counting the days, we will make it on time to ryys. trust me and proceed.' although all the students did not show much conviction, they all resumed the journey.
in this manner whenever a difficult situation arouse, lohe assured the rest that they should trust him and get on with the journey.
finally when they reached ryys, they realized that almost one month had passed and the great master had left. the students were thoroughly disappointed and turned to lohe for an explanation. lohe smiled and said 'i confess that i did not know any more about the weather or the terrain than you did, i was merely trying to make the journey worth its while for you.'

lah and nuh were given the noble responsibility of demonstrating love to the world. after their time was fulfilled, lah and nuh presented themselves before the master. no sooner than the master asked them about how they fared, nuh broke out in a frustrated tone. 'lah has been a total failure. she has shown no respect for me. she flirted with other men. she ditched me without warning and married another. she has insulted and hurt me at every opportunity.' nuh went on in this manner for a long time. then the master turned to lah, she said 'i would have liked nuh not to talk about my behavior to anybody, not even to you master.' and then she said no more. the master told lah that she may leave as she has more or less fulfilled her responsibility. nuh stood there puzzled and looked questioningly at the master. the master understood nuh's question and replied 'nuh, your responsibility was with your life. irrespective of lah's behavior you were responsible for the love in your life. when you let lah's erratic behavior upset you and your love, it is you who have failed me and not her.'

busan told his friends 'when you refuse to support the weak, you give them a chance to grow strong.' his friends asked for an elaboration, so busan told them about the great warrior fuyah. fuyah had no equal in might, but he was often caught in self-doubt, so he sought reassurance from others each time he went to fight. once, he was to fight the infamous kean dragons. as was his nature, he went to various elders and people of importance to receive reassurance. one of the elders, moyah, was frustrated with fuyah's self-doubting nature. so instead of reassuring the warrior, he guided him to master ilap saying 'only he can help you win.' so fuyah sought ilap's audience and expressed his doubts and concerns regarding his fight with the kean dragons. ilap listened to fuyah patiently and told him straight away 'i don't think you will win this fight with the kean dragons.' fuyah was shocked by ilap's response. the shock changed to disappointment and the disappointment to anger. he went back home and vowed to show ilap how good he was. in the fight that ensued fuyah slew fifty kean dragons and came back victorious. and as soon as he came back, he went straight to ilap and thanked him for giving him the chance to grow strong.

in the great university there was a teacher whose misfortune provided him with the most dull students every time. because of this he was usually irritable and vexed. during one of his sessions, he asked the students to imagine that they were in a jungle. but nobody cooperated. some students kept asking him to describe the jungle. some asked him why they should imagine. and some totally refused to imagine saying that they do not have the ability to imagine. that day the teacher became very frustrated and he left them in the middle of the session screaming 'you have no intention to learn. you are worthless. nobody can help you.'
after seeing his mood and making logical deductions, one of his colleagues suggested that he should meet the great master and tell him his problem. willing to do anything for a solution, the teacher went to see the great master.
on taking an appointment, the teacher was told that the great master is a very occupied man and can only spare him one evening. the teacher agreed and went to the great master on the given evening. the great master listened patiently to the teacher and said 'oh, it is a very simple matter...', when the evening gong was heard. the great master immediately got up and said 'it is time for my evening walk, would you mind joining me so that we may talk while we walk?' the teacher was taken aback by the candor of the great master, but he agreed. even as the teacher got up, the great master quickly proceeded towards a nearby lake, beckoning at him. caught in surprise, the teacher was slow to respond. he was left gaping as the great master disappeared into the water. he waited by the lake for two hours before he saw the great master again. but to his surprise, the great master ignored him completely and was walking past him. the teacher called out 'great master, great master!' the great master turned and said 'oh, it's you, but your evening is over, what are you calling me for?' the puzzled teacher replied 'please don't deprive me great master, you left me in the middle of the evening and went into the water.' the great master sounded stern 'you were the one who refused to join me and that after agreeing to it. it is i who was deprived.' the teacher was pleading 'but...but how could i have joined you, i cannot walk into water.' the great master, who was extremely angry by now, screamed 'you have no intention to learn. you are worthless. nobody can help you.' and saying this he left the teacher.

one evening the disciples came back from town, full of sensational news about a man who was performing miracles. eventually, they all gathered around the master to know his opinion on the topic. 'i remember an old story about a miracle,' said the master, as the disciples listened intently. 'once upon a time, in a great land ruled by a great king, there lived three handsome young men - shadrach, mescach and abednego. they were very popular for their strength, intelligence and integrity. when the stories of their exceptional qualities reached the king, he became eager to meet them. so he summoned them into his presence and subjected them to various tests. and just as he had been told, shedrach, mescach and abednego proved to be the best men one could find in the land. such great qualities should not go waste, thought the king, and offered them high positions in his service. but to his shock and anger, they refused saying 'great king, in your land there is none greater than you, and to serve you is to worship you. but for us, your land is not ground, and you are not divine. so we cannot but decline your kind offer.' the king, who was not used to being refused, threatened to burn them alive. but shedrach, mescach and abednego did not panic, and were firm in their stance. so the king ordered a furnace to be erected in the center of his capital, so that everybody may see what happens to those who refuse the king.'
'on the day of the burning of shedrach, mescach and abednego, a great multitude of anxious people gathered in the center of the capital. and from between them three extremely calm youth were led to the furnace. people were amazed to see a bright light on their faces, which made them look very similar, as if they were brothers. finally, the great king arrived and ordered that the three be shut in the furnace and burned alive till their bones perished. shedrach, mescach and abednego did not protest, but walked willingly into the furnace. the multitude gave out a great sigh as the executioner lit up the furnace. to everybody's surprise, not a sound was heard from inside, it was as if an empty furnace burned. the king and his multitude left and then returned in the evening to inspect the furnace. scattered among the ash, they found tiny fragments of what were a day ago the powerful frames of shadrach, mescach and abednego.' so saying the master concluded his discourse. the disciples were still waiting with a prolonged expectant silence, when one of them, unable to hold himself spoke 'but...but master, what about the miracle?' the master looked at him kindly and replied 'the courage with which the three young men entered the fire, that is the miracle.'
