when the students heard that a great master was giving a discourse atop ryys. they decided to brave the difficult terrain that separated their valley from the mount and go to listen to the great master. they started two weeks in advance as per their estimate. but early on their way, they started realizing that the terrain and climate was tougher than they expected. everyone was getting disheartened and was talking about returning. finally, they decided to stop and have a formal meeting. then lohe spoke up 'brothers i am the only one who has been through this terrain before, so you must trust me. the hard weather and difficult terrain does not last for long. very soon it will be clear skies and smooth terrain.' most of the students were convinced and resumed their journey, while a few went back saying 'he's lying.'
after a couple of days, the weather got worse. the students camped and had a formal meeting again. 'we are going really slow, at this rate we may not reach ryys on time.' said one. 'if we reach ryys at all.' said another angrily. then lohe spoke up 'the weather got worse because of a minor irregularity, it will not last more than a few hours. and we are not behind schedule at all, i am counting the days, we will make it on time to ryys. trust me and proceed.' although all the students did not show much conviction, they all resumed the journey.
in this manner whenever a difficult situation arouse, lohe assured the rest that they should trust him and get on with the journey.
finally when they reached ryys, they realized that almost one month had passed and the great master had left. the students were thoroughly disappointed and turned to lohe for an explanation. lohe smiled and said 'i confess that i did not know any more about the weather or the terrain than you did, i was merely trying to make the journey worth its while for you.'
