Oh well...

Pokemon Update:

Ash is all ready for his (sixth?) badge, but the gym is in the same place as the NASA-esque facility of Hoenn. The twin son and daughter of the head astronaut are the co-gym leaders of this gym. By using the Confusion attacks of Lunatone, they made zero-gravity conditions in the gym. Ash is gonna have to battle both of them at once to win. This week, though, Max gets to sneak aboard the space shuttle and rescue it from Team Rocket.

He seems to be getting there slowly but surely, hey? :P I remember that battle in the game now, where there is a team of two trainers. Does that mean that ash got to use two Pokémon at once? Was one Pikachu? :P

I miss Pokémon, lol. I actually found out my old videos that I'd recorded of the first series. How cool, eh?

Yeah, Ash has to use two at once. Normally I'd think that battling in zero gravity would be a problem for Ash, but given that he's:

A. Managed to foil the plans of international crime syndicates Team Rocket/Aqua/Magma/the PEC etc, especially given that he's spent far less time training his (current) Pokemon and doesn't have the money for high-tech gadgets.
B. Somehow pulled off a top 16 in his first League, given that he was a pathetic amateur when he started.
C. Has saved the entire world from: Mewtwo, the three Legendary Birds, the Unown, etc.

Yada yada yada, you get the point. Come on, we know the routine by now. To my recollection, any gym rematches Ash has needed only needed another episode, with the exceptions of Sabrina's Psychic Pokemon (needed two episodes smiley - smiley) and that whole Whirl Pool stuff. Ash is gonna win.

I think a key factor in this stuff is that most Gym leaders don't seem to leave their home towns ever. Ash goes all over and sees many different strategies and battles in many different conditions. Besides, face facts, blasting Team Rocket off again may not gain Pikachu and the others much experience, but it is cumulative. Come to think of it, when they started Pikachu could only blast TR off a few thousand feet, but now they go hundreds of feet up and past the horizon. "Looks like Team Rocket is blasting off again! Ping!" I'd lay odds that Pikachu might just hold his own against Zaptos now, given that he's had a few more years of training.

Well, Pikachu would have to be at quite a high level now, given the fact that he's gone through how many seasons of television?! In Pokémon Gold and Silver, when you faced Ash (Red) at the end of the game, his Pikachu was at level 81. So it's got to be quite high now, maybe even gone to the maximum 100 if you were to apply the game levels to the TV series.

Although, I do want to replay that game just because it's my favourite in the series. I think I'll do so. As for Ash saving the world from all those Pokémon, well... It's easier to stick with one character than toh ave to create more, hey? smiley - winkeye

Yeah, I own Yellow and Crystal. I still have to get Emerald one of these days, plus whatever the third version of pearl and diamond are.

Pokemon Update:

They didn't battle in zero gravity after all. Ash chose Pikachu (big surprise, yeah right) and Swellow to face Solrock and Lunatone. Their battle was interrupted by TR again, but Ash still won. The big move was when Pikachu thunderbolted a stormcloud so that lightning would supercharge Pikachu and Swellow, rendering them temporarily invincible.

Pokemon Update:

The gang is wandering through the forest and Max sees a Pokemon that is extinct. I get the feeling that it's not an Ancient Pokemon like Groudon or Raquaza, but just the Hoenn additions to the class of Kabuto, Aerodactyl, etc. The rest of our heroes don't believe him, so Max runs off to prove he's telling the truth. He stumbles upon a cloning laboratory where fossils are cloned back into Pokemon. Our heroes find him and foil an effort by TR to steal them. It was cute that TR's new tank had very expensive durable metal on it's outside, but ordinary stuff on the bottom. Flip the tank over, and you can Flamethrower through it easily enough.

Pokemon Update:

May's entering her fourth (of five) Pokemon Contests. She gets a new rival named Harley. He's clearly more selfish than Drew, who they're trying to set up as a potential ally. Harley deliberately lies to May about the capabilities of the Pokemon she's about to face in an effort to make her lose her contests. Luckily she and her Bulbasaur rub his face in it by beating him, even though Harley used some shady tactics. Earlier Harley recorded a conversation with Max in which Max gossiped about some embarrasing stuff from May's childhood. He played the tape during the contest to humilate May and keep her mind off of the battle.

Pokemon Update:

Our heroes encounter a giant stone Pokeball. A sage (and part-time souvenier salesman) tells them that it contains a giant Claydoll. Team Rocket tries to steal it, but their balloon is too weak and the Pokeball cracks open. The Claydoll is released, and now our heroes and TR have to lure it to another mountain where a backup stone Pokeball is located. Ash tries a normal one, but it was just too big, the Pokemon couldn't even get inside inside. All they know about this stuff is from an ancient text. It says that it hates eggplant and likes cute girls. Jesse, May (dressed like a Nurse Joy), Meowth (crossdressing), and Wobbofett (ditto) try to lure it, but it only likes Wobbofett. Eventually the gang and TR get it back inside and everything returns to normal.

Pokemon Update:

Our heroes meet a girl who travels around performing ribbon dances with her Pokemon. I forget its name, but as it turns out it's very fickle when it comes to crushes. Torcoal likes it, but it likes Lombre. After foiling TR's latest theft scheme, Lombre evolves into Ludicolo, but the girl's Pokemon chases another trainer's Psyduck instead.

Pokemon Update:

There was a rerun yesterday, and I forget the details from a week ago. I guess it was just "let's meet a new Pokemon and have TR try to steal it" again.

Nothing exciting, I just noticed it's been a couple weeks and I didn't want you to worry that I'd spontaneously combusted or anything...

Pokemon Update:

Well, Ash has his eighth badge. It was a tough battle. This time was different. The gym leader was a coordinator in his youth, and May was impressed by the beauty of the Pokemon's attacks. The first round was two on two, then three one on one matches. In addition, the field kept changing from water to land and back to switch things up. Once again TR tried to cash in on the leaders fame by impersonating him and selling souveniers.

Pokemon Update:

Apparently they skipped the episode where May got her fifth ribbon, so she's already at the Grand Festival. TR is pulling the "impersonate Gym Leader Norman" scheme again. May's mom has come to see her, meeting Harley and Drew on the way. Harley is up to no good again, trying to convince May that she'd look great only using Beautifly's Silver Wind attack, and nothing else, but our heroes convinced her otherwise. Drew gave her another rose and seemed jealous of Harley at first, but it was cleared up fast.

Wow, didn't know I'd gotten that far behind. Basically, Drew beat May in the third round and got beat himself in the fourth. Sound familiar? The romantic undertone is getting stronger. Ash is now in the middle of the Hoenn League championship. We met President Goodrich again, and Ash again carried the Moltres torch.

I am -so- sorry. Things have been hectic for a while around here, but I'm back! We finally got satellite TV, so I've seen a few of the Advanced episodes, but they also show Johto Journies (my second favourite series), and they did show some Indigo League episodes too!

Also, I restarted my OLD OLD Pokémon games, so that's all fun :D Sorry I've been away so long, hopefully we can catch up!

Hey, I'm glad you're back. After three and a half years I'd hate for this to end.

Ash finished the Hoenn league in the top eight, again. He beat Morrison, and Tyson beat him. Tyson used a Meowth for the final battle. It's actually refreshing to see what a properly trained Meowth can do, including Iron Tail and Thunder. Morrison is the one who got his eighth badge at the last minute, and although he's had a friendly competition with Ash the last dozen or so episodes he was clearly not as good, nor as confident. It took Ash's encouragement for him to not resign. Tyson won the whole thing, so our heroes are moving on.

Likewise. Apologies again that I've been AWOL, but I'm back now with a vengeance!

That sounds like one cool Meowth. Although nothing will ever replace the Meowth we all know and love (loathe?).

Also, did you hear the rumours that apparently they're going to be getting rid of all the voice actors and actresses for the TV series and replacing them with soundalikes? :/

Anime

Post 659

Infinite Improbability

That would be a shame.

Anyway, I saw on a few websites how annoyed people were that they skipped the episodes that had May's fifth contest in them. There were only three, so between last week and this week we got them over with, then moved on. Ash is going home after the Hoenn league. May and Max decided to make a side-trip to go home, and Brock went on another back to Pewter City. For awhile Ash was kinda lonely, but when he got back to Pallet he met the home gang again. Delia, Prof. Oak, Mr. Mime, Tracey, and Misty! She has a new Azurill now, and is still wearing her "grown-up" outfit. Being the new Cerulean Gym Leader will do that. A talent scout or someone tells Ash about the Battle Frontier. Ash decides to go try it. It's basically just a new set of "gym leaders" in Kanto that's designed to go faster than a normal League cycle and only allows more skilled trainers.

They did?

Over the Easter holidays, they were playing Pokémon re-runs every day from 7am until 1pm. I watched the Johto ones, and then forgot to for a few days, until I realiseds that they were restarting RIGHT from the beginning of the Indigo League!

I still got to see my favourite episode though, Bye Bye Butterfree. After all these years and I still cry when it leaves! Lol.
