Babel o' fish...back to earning a crust! Posted Apr 17, 2001
At the risk of throwing a spanner in the works and being a fly in the ointment and all the other cliches that I can't think of right now, and while bowing to the excellence of the Star Trek series how come something as good as Babylon 5 doesn't get a look in?
~something tells me I'll be answering my own question if I'm not careful~
I'm talking about those episodes that were connected to the Shadows War and not the "one offs".
Don't you think those series were well crafted, acted and had a semblance of "hmm, could be, could be" with regard to 'believability'?
~as if 'believability' is a pre-requiste for science fiction....doh!!~
Anyone care to enlighten me?
Any B5 fans out there?
Babylon 5?
Infinite Improbability Posted Apr 17, 2001
I guess I'm a B5 fan, but Star trek and H2G2 are better. Responding to Dax, I think practically every voyager fan wants janeway and chakotay to get together. ALso, why would Seven and the Doctor need children? Do you see Seven as a mother? In any case the Doctor already programmed himself some holographic children, remember? They could also adopt. As for Harry Kim, who do you see him with? One of teh Delhaney sisters?
Thanks to everyone who made my page break teh twenty meesage mark. Thank you!

Actually I´ve never watched B5, so I can´t say if it´s good or not.
I plan to start watching it soon though, as a friend of mine is taping it for me... Let you know then...
Back to Star Trek. Yes, I do see Seven as a mother, eventually... She´s come a long way in a very short time. But actually I do kindda want her and the doctor to get together, I loved the episode "Someone to watch over me" and felt very sorry for the doc in the end.
At least Seven and the Doctor is better than Seven and Chakotay...
As long as everybody stays away from Tuvok I´m pretty much happy... He´s mine

You can have Tuvok, Dax.
I'll have Babel in a Commander's uniform

Infinite Improbability Posted Apr 17, 2001
Yea, it stink that I never saw the Seven-and Chakotay episode (my city was broadcasting the local womens basketball tournament that night). How did it turn out/ I don't think that it would work. I still can't imagine Seven ever being a mother. By the way, everyone stop by the Ultimate Fan page because I've added a few more of my favorite things. If you like any of the new stuff we can talk about it here.

>Seven and Chakotay??????
What episode was that in?????<
The one called "Human Error" You´ll get to that, be patient GB...
And actually I just saw the promoes for that episode which was more than enough... Since I´m from Denmark I don´t actually have access to any of the new Star Trek on TV, so a friend of mine downloads it from the internet. But there was an error in the Human Error episode (yes, I know...) so I have to wait until he fixes it and sends me the next tape... I can´t wait to see it though...

Now you are talking astonishing revelations to me.....
How does one do this??
Please?
Star Trek
Dax Posted Apr 17, 2001
Oh please don´t aks me that, because I have absolutely no idea whatsoever... I´m just the stupid blond who get´s the tapes from a kindhearted friend...

Hey, was anyone else freaked out by the voyager yesterday? "author, author" was weird. Just a little star trek question here. in the 24th century starfleet can recrystallize their dilithium, right? So why do you need holograms to mine dilithium? Also, why this question of hologram rights? The federation established Data's rights years ago. Isnt the Doctor at least as sophisticated a Data?

Dax Posted Apr 19, 2001
Sorry, haven´t seen that particular episode yet... So I can´t really give you my opinion.
Hadn´t even heard about that one...

I had a date Friday night, and I went to York for the day on Saturday.
Please don't stress that we don't visit for a few days.
I am still trying to get through my threads backlog
And I haven't even opened my email yet.
If I spend all day here, I will *still* have stuff to do, things I meant to look up, but didn't have time.
*sigh*
Anyway, I never get tired of talking about Star Trek.
I haven't seen "Author, author" either.
Last weeks new Voyager was the first of a two-parter involving the Hirogen.
Yes, in "Measure of a Man", Data was given the rights of an individual lifeform. But Data is an android...not a hologram.
If you were to give holograms rights as sentient beings, where would it all end?
Surely the Doctor is a unique case, like Data?
Star Trek
Infinite Improbability Posted Apr 22, 2001
Yes, the Doctor is a unique case. But remember that the holographic Moriarty apparently had full rights. Picard obviously saw him as a life-form because if he didnt' he would have just deleted Moriarty. I suppose you could say that Minuet was a sentient hologram, too. Plus the EMH-mark 2 helped the Doctor save the Prometheous, which was definitely not in his programming. I just can't believe there are no holographic rights laws in the federations books. Think about it. "To seek out new life and new civilizations." To quote Picard, "Well, there he sits!" Sorry for ranting. WHy don't we move on to another topic?
Star Trek
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Apr 23, 2001
I can see your point.
Don't worry about ranting!
I enjoy these conversations.
I'm getting "Galaxy Quest" on video for my birthday {next week} and I can't wait to see it again & share it with my kids!

Thank you. By the way, don't you think that the NSEA Protector would've had less damage if Scotty was on board? Wouldn't an Omega 13 be a cool idea. I'm sure the Enterprise/Defiant/Voyager would be glad to have it every now and then.
