Thought today was going to be hell but it wasn't. The leavers' assembly was fine and the parents laughed in all the right places. The talent show was much easier having some adult backup in the hall and I just managed to fit everyone in in the time. The y6 party at the ice-rink was fun for most. Strangely, Jim and I turned up at an Indian restaurant in Cannock to meet his former colleagues and there was no one there. We came all the way home again without seeing them. Wrong info or did they just forget to tell him it was cancelled? Tomorrow last day of term. Will be sad to see this year 6 leaving. Have known them for two years, some more. They were a good bunch.

Buggered my knees up again, roller-blading. Sticks and bits of tree were everywhere and hard to avoid; I thought I'd done quite well but then hit one. Sadly both my knees got twisted and so am hobbling about like the 70 yr old I'm trying to avoid being.

An interesting day. Awoke from a night of flying about the countryside. I seem to be perfecting my technique (dreamwise that is). Went into Warwick with Jim to return the cd of Clare Fischer's "Morning". Took out "The Buena Vista Social Club" - Wim Wenders movie. Very slow. Visited the summer fete at school.
It's all very tropical here at the moment. Hot and muggy with the occasional thunderstorm. The road opposite flooded today. Looked like a river. The gig last night was excellent. The steel pan band "Phase One" from Coventry are really very talented. Daughter's group was good but they scowled their way through the first number. The bass pans were the wrong way round. Someone had moved them. They went wrong on their first number, but no-one would have known if they hadn't shown it so obviously on their faces! We were also african drumming that night. It was fine.
This evening Jim and I went dancing, as we do once a fortnight. Most found it rather too hot. I don't seem to feel it as much as some do. J and I did some neat jiving and the quickstep and the waltz are sorted. We add steps as we feel like it. Somewhat unorthodox of us. Good fun.
