h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Today I emailed the Jeremy Vine show as they were talking about the Ross/Brand scandal.
I pointed out that I had missed the broadcast and had to hunt the net for a copy to listen to as all the fuss had made me want to listen to it, that it was probably in rather bad taste and puerile, but that people who listen to Ross and Brand should know what to expect, that MPs should butt out and get back to doing their proper jobs and that the complainants are offended on behalf of somebody else and that no offense was committed against them and they therefore have little to no right to be offended.

There were some other things as well. Anyway I've received a reply saying that they will be passing my email on to the controller of Radio 2. The only thing is, my language was probably rather strong and a little on the blunt side. I may have used the phrase 'mentally sub-normal' and not when talking about Ross or Brand....oopsie

I think that if someone whose wages I'm forced to pay calls up an 80 year old guy to say "I've f***ed your granddaughter - oops, don't kill yourself", I should be able to smack him in the chops until I correct his speech impediment...

If the British public weren't paying that talentless mook Wossie millions of pounds a year to read an autocue, then maybe I'd agree. As it is, we should be pretend to be offended by this because being offended by his wage isn't having an effect.

On the bright side, he won't be able to ask for anywhere near that amount next time if the advertising sector doesn't pick up as ITV and C4 won't be able to cough up more than about £5m for him and probably less than £4m. In fact he may find that he's out of work if the BBC decide they don't want him anymore.

aside from the "i f*****d your grandaughter" part of it.... and that ruins it for me...

it was it WAS absolutely hilarious... the way he kept realising he'd messed up and then called again to make it better and wound up making it even worse... each time totally blew me away.... partly haha because i have been there only the subject matter of my messages was not so bad...

he did that part very well... which is why he makes the big bucks?

too bad he went too far on the offensive faux pas part...

tv news tonight,Brand has resigned

Yup, the funny one, who allegedly did the afore mentioned deed with Georgina Sachs, who, for those of you who don't know, dances about without her drawers on, has resigned.

It's a shame as I quite liked his show when I heard it. I'd much rather have him on the air than Ross...he's cuter too but that has nothing to do with it.

I have liked some of his stuff, his series on Japan was good and some of his interviews are ok, but he has the maturity level of a horny 14yo boy and all the subtlety and tact of a ballet dancing hippo.

and to me, Brand looks like something dragged through an hedge backwards and if saw in the street you'd give him give 50p for his wife and kids or awhich ever come first

I can't really comment on people looking scruffy and if I met him on the street I'd probably get chatting to him as he looks rather Byronesque.

and as for ross i find him rather annoying and i certainly don't think he's worth the money he gets payed

Well, apparently, the controller of Radio 2 has threatened to resign if any of her staff are sacked. As she's ultimately responsible for what goes out over the station that is only right.

she's resigned and Ross suspended for 12 week(I think)without pay - aw! as if that'll hurt

I can't bear JR but I do RB. Having said that they both specialise in schoolboy humour so what did the beeb expect.

I think the grandchild is enjoying this far too much and it smacks of that dish best served cold - I hope she enjoys it.

She's getting a lot of free publicity, and one paper even had her talking about what RB did in bed.
