Can I get you to put your work hat on for a second?
I'm currently reviewing our w*rk new improved website, and I have a question about colours in the text only version. Is coloured font on a black background easy to read? The letters change from yellow to blue to red throughout, and I find the red-on-black particularly indistinct.
Your thoughts and opinions much appreciated.

There is a niffty tool you can get, which looks at the 'colour contrast', which is probably the best way to do it...
Of course, for a lot of partially sighted people using a magnifier screen reader software, they have the colours on their software set to what they prefer, and it'll tend to override any colours specified on the web-site itself; indeed in both firefox an IE, you can choose to disable displaying in the font and colour of the web-site as it is specified on the web-site, and instead tell the web-browser to use a certain colour combination and font/font size
Err I'll try find the link to that tool though... hang on
ahh, think this is it:

It does a lot of other nice things too, though I only personally use it for a couple of its features like teh colour contrast one
