You know I'm very* tempted to repair it myself; The water has gotten behind the tiles, and expanded the ... err stuff that sticks em to the wall, so its come away from the wall...
I think* I could quite easily rmeove all the dodgy tiles as they're so loose, and I have this idea that I could leave those tiles in a bucket overnight with water and bleach; I think* this would help disolve off all the ... err stuff that was sticking them to the wall, so they're nice and clean and easy to put back....
Its the actual putting them back on the wall bit I don't think I'd be very good at
And it wouldn't necessarily stop the problem happening again; The Idiots who fitted my bathroom, and hence did the origional tiling, put the tiles on the windowledge, angled the wrong way; water collects; also the tiles under the window ledge, rather than the top edge of them being 'under' the tiles on the window ledge, is forward of the window ledge tiles; this allows water to get behidn the tiles on the wall.. So I think* when I get it done I'll have to have the tiles on teh window ledge, (which are actually not blown ), removed; so they can be put bac in place angled slightly down away fromt eh window so the water doesn't collect so much; and I think* you can get these funny little 'edging' tiles which will make a better, and hopefully watertight seal between the window ledge tiles and the tiles on the wall underneath (which are the ones that are really falling off/blown)
Talking of which I never got round to calling a tiler yesterday, I'll attempt that today, I called the electrition yesterday (to fix the lights in the kitchen and utility room and studeo), left a message, still haven't got a reply, so I'll probably try calling them again today too, and if can't tet through will find another electriction to call
Actually, if the electrition doesn't cost too* much I may get them to put an extra coupel of double sockets in the studeo as I've pretty much maxed out the three double sockets above the computer desk Hmm... time I got on and thought about making some of these calls

ONce the lighting is fixed, and the tileing done, the next job is to get the boiler serviced before winter comes along

From what I remember the sticking stuff is called grout
Also...a DIY book on tiling might come in handy
Thats what i used plastering my wallls in my flat
The last tenant had used a crossbow (council flat) over a few months to make a 3 foot cavity in one of the walls
woo hoo!

Think I'll still go the route of getting a tiler in to do it as its a bit more complicated than just replacing the tiles; I really want it to remain good for like well years, so I want it done well
Never got round to calling the tiler today though But at least I finally managed to get hold of an Electrition, who handily lives only a couple streets away so should get him round next week to wort out the knackered lighting
I may try calling the tiler tommorrow to rrrange for em to come round and i give me a quote on the work some time next week
I'm gona try use the momentum of finally getting these two bits of work done to invest some time getting the boiler sorted and finding out about getting the windows done yet again
I have kinda neglected doing much to the house since I bought it, well cept for having the bathroom entirely redone.... and now that is where the tiling is playing up
Key: Complain about this post
