Hi Peanut! No thankfully I'm not yet at the point of going hungry IRL!
Dream Journal One
Peanut Posted Dec 1, 2012
That is good to know!
Sometimes when I dream of something I wake up and really want I have dreamed about.
I not too sure if I am hungry when I am asleep and so dream about food, or if dreaming about food makes me feel hungry for something when I wake up
*wonders if it possible to really feel hungry while you are asleep, rather than just dreaming you are hungry*
I'm not sure that is a sensical question, or if sensical is a word but I kind of like it
Dream Journal One
Willem Posted Dec 2, 2012
I like it too, if there's such a thing as nonsensical the opposite should be sensical right?! I'm sure it's possible to feel hungry because of being hungry for real while dreaming. I have experienced it in fact.
Anyways: last night, very little. I was in the gym training and the equipment was really cr*ppy! There was a pulldown station where the cable was too long and I had to rig it up differently in order to allow me to do pulldowns and also had to add weights to the weight stack. Then somewhere I dreamt of Steve Stanko (old-time weightlifter) and that somehow he was a fraud.

Last night I dreamt my father returned to this world in the shape of his cat (also long deceased) Floors. And I had to care for him in that form; he was fully a cat with no memory of his previous life, only I knew.

I have dreamed about being hungry.
I have also eaten in my sleep.
This was a brief period many years ago.
At the time I did need to eat more!
I have also dreamed about foods and then craved them.
It can be a nightmare senario for people who
need to lose weight or restrict foods and sleep eat.
People have been known to eat bad food, or non-edibles
when sleep eating.

Willem my father always said if there was such an opportunity
he wanted to come back as a well cared for dog, someones beloved
pet. I like to remember that and give my pets extra
loving sometimes. It's a touching reminder of my loving and hard working dad. At moments I wish it were true

Hello Abbi and thanks for your comments! Peanut will not be leaving entirely I gather.
I hope to soon get back to this journal... have been having some epic dreams but failed to jot them down. There was one a few nights ago about the world coming to an end, with aliens and an entirely new kind of existence coming into being.

All I remember about last night, other than waking up about every ten minutes, was that once, when I woke up, there were a lot of strange people in red standing around my bed. I yelled at them and they disappeared.
Don't ever get food allergies. It makes it all worse.
Dream Journal One
Willem Posted Dec 12, 2012
Hi Dmitri! I'm glad your strangers obliged. I'll try and take your advice and make sure not to get food allergies.
I have my dream journal in front of me and I'm reading dream notes I never even realise I made! I'm trying to make sense of them.
There's one of a girl telling jokes and 'manipulating them, fitting them into a framework, making/getting them wet!'. Huh?!
'Plane engine crashes on town like a nuclear bomb.' Whutt?
'Taliban head prints, gorse bush, "illion", propaganda cult leader, all he does is put down his rival.' Erm ... ???
'Game reserve with extinct creatures: Procoptodon & Barbourofelis.' OK the one is an extinct giant kangaroo, the other a sabre-toothed almost-cat. Can't remember details of the dream though.
'Game: "muir"-mountains.' I remember something vaguely about that ...
OK last night's dreams I do remember a bit. There was one in which I was jumping on a giant pogo-stick in a game reserve. There were lions and/or tigers so I had to jump away from them and with my stick I jumped high into a tree and then climbed higher to get away from them. Getting chased into a tree by lions is a frequent nightmare theme for me. They often either jump ... and then it turns out I'm not quite high enough ... or they climb after me. In this dream thankfully they did neither.
Next dream I was at an athletic event where my sister was competing in a track item.
Then there was a very dimly recollected dream of an aunt (actually if I'm not mistaken, a cousin or niece of my mom's) who in the dream got breast cancer. I've not seen her in many, many years so I don't know if she's well or sick for real or not.

I have been having some recurring dream scenerios, about Hiccup and I moving to a house or flat that we have been gifted somehow.
They are very detailed and as I have had three now along the same theme but completely different in terms of people, flat/house, what is in them and the specifics of our interactions but very similar patterns. I am going for the writing down of these particular dream scapes. Still I am thinking now that i am organised won't have another one, harumph, *will be disappointd* because they are really interesting to me
Do you have lots of themes/events in your dreams Willem?
I wouldn't like lions chasing me up trees for sure
Dream Journal One
Willem Posted Dec 14, 2012
Hi folks! Peanut yes I have lots of themes in my dreams. I'm hoping that by recording them like this I can start keeping track of the themes and how frequently they crop up and also determine if there are 'real world issues' relating to them.
I hope you have another of those dreams and manage to record it!
Right so the night before last there was a few themes all in one dream. I dreamt I was alone in a shopping centre (well not all alone, there were other people, but no friends/family). I was sort of trapped and withoiut any money. But I had an offer to make a movie for Walt Disney for $12 million. (I made a note 'Hindu elements, not satire' ... does that refer to the movie? I don't know.) But I had nowhere to go from the shopping centre. I wanted to phone my mom, she was the only person I could reach. But I could not, I did not have her number ... here is the dream theme: I am frequently 'trapped' somewhere (in a city but surrounded by strangers) and have to contact a familiar person to get out but can't because I don't have a phone or a phone number. OR I need money to get out but I don't have any or can't get any ... typically I am lacking a card to make an ATM withdrawal OR I have a card but need a code which I had forgot ... always it's an immense struggle to get the code/phone number or whatever. For instance there would be lots of numbers/codes written on a paper that I have but in the dream I'm unable to make any of them out. Or I'll have lost a card and will be trying to remember where I might have lost it. Sometimes I'm back at university but missing my student's card.
Anyways in this dream somebody eventually helped me to phone my mom. Don't know what happened next.
Dmitri you mention movies?! Last night I had a corker of an epic dream. I dreamt I was in - but of course the dream simply WAS - a sequel to:
- Dune (1980's movie about Frank Herbert's novels). The red-headed villain character 'Feyd' (played by Sting) featured prominently in the dream/movie.
- The Dark Crystal, 1980's 'puppet' fantasy movie. The land-striders (guys on stilts with silly puppet costumes) were running around in parts of the dream.
- The Doctor Who series. Unfortunately I can't remember the details of these.
At any rate it was an epic dream and all of these elements were seamlessly blended together but I can't remember any specifics!

Willem Posted Dec 15, 2012
Last night's dreaming also had a movie theme! I'm sure it was inspired by 'The Thing' (the 1982 version). In the dream I or someone was fleeing into caverns in ice, probably in Antarctica. I'm sure there were monsters involved. But what really freaked me out in the dream was the way the character (who also was me in a way) kept fleeing deeper and deeper into the ice caves. The dream conveyed the sense of the inhuman cold like no movie could. It was absolutely terrifying. He/I had to flee in deeper and deeper ... and the caves apparently went on forever. Every step brought him/me further away from the base where he used to live and where conditions were livable. But now he had to flee ... maybe monsters were chasing him ... and had no choice but push on. Imagine running on and on in caves for hours and hours, maybe even for days, further and further into desolation. And I think he had lights with him ... but soon they would fail ... and he/I would be alone in the dark and in the soul-destroying cold and with a monster between me and my only safe place.
The theme of dark corridors or tunnels is a frequent one in my dreams. I have to go somewhere but I'm in these tunnels and it is literally pitch dark, there is *nothing* to be seen, and I somehow have to navigate my way.

I usually enjoy exploration more than I did that dream Dmitri!
Last night was again very interesting. There was a dream about my father as a GIGANTIC sea turtle. I mean bigger than a blue whale. He ate giant jellyfish. I made a note ... can't parse it properly" "grumpy, don't want to remember". Does that refer to my dad not remembering that he WASN'T actually a turtle? No idea now.
Then there was a dream about a beautiful jungle through which a river flowed. There were big trees on the banks. We (me and I don't know who else) had to cross the river. It was too broad to cross by swimming ... so we JUMPED over. Yeah, we could cover a greater distance in a single bound than we could realistically swim. I wonder now if there wasn't some other reason for why we couldn't swim ... such as a very strong current. And I think we climbed the trees on the banks to get enough height for a long jump.
The final dream I can remember was about dorado's. Better known as pompano dolphinfish. In my dream there were people confusing them with actual dolphins and saying they were mammals. They were entered that way in a book or encyclopedia and in the dream I was outraged about that of course. We were at sea during the dream. Then we encountered (I can't remember if it was in the sea or in the book) an *actual* marine mammal relative of whales. It was ungulate-like and had hooves but still could swim well.
Reality subtext: dorados are called dolphins but are really fish. Whales and dolphins look like fish but are relatives of hoofed mammals.

I think how your Dad is sometimes reincarnated in your dreams is amazing and also very touching. Do you think it would amuse him to be a gigantic turtle?
I hope you don't mind me commenting on this aspect of your dreams
I did a massive after asking the question about themes in your dreams. Having been hear since this journal started I think some are very evident but also that these are not 'new' insights to you, as you are already aware of them
That said, I think your dreams are fantastic, and so darn imaginative, I really enjoy reading them

Willem Posted Dec 17, 2012
Hi Peanut! No cause for ing! You can comment on any aspect of my dreams of course, I welcome all comments! I don't know if my dad as a turtle was amused by it ... he seemed a bit of a grumpy turtle!
Last night I dreamt I went to a huge spirituality/consciousness science meeting. We were in a big hall and folks were up front speaking and showing stuff. A friend from high school was there but he'd only came to mock the whole thing. He also put a question to me about a challenge he had set me earlier to prove something that I believed. Well by this point it wasn't an issue for me any more so I wanted to say to him, I can't prove it, but I don't particularly insist on that opinion being true. But he kept going on about how I had to rigorously prove it.
Key: Complain about this post
