It's...
Well, quite.
The best place I've found is the School of Nursing computer room, which is a stone's throw from my pokey little hostel type residence, my surgical ward that I play on AND it is AIR CONDITIONED.
So, a day off on the 'hottest day of the year' and with no money to spend on at a pub I'll sit in the below zero room all day tapping away at a research essay on care-planning. Wee.

I don't know if anyone in Derby knows how to read, they all seem to walk around with their heads in their mobile phones...
So, chances of a decent library - limited. I may investigate though

I'm surprised you moved from Nottingham to Derby, given the good transport and the proximity of the places. Do you have a car?

I ain't moved - I'm here on secondment
Be back in Beeston middle of August. And if it's still hot may just have to go and drink lots of beer at the Post.

There was a museum I visited there once, it had an open day for school staff to come and see whether they wanted to take trips there. That would while away a couple of (possibly air-conditioned) hours.
Unfortunately having looked at multimap I dunno which of the museums shown it was. This was in 2000 so I'm a bit hazy. I think it's the one shown at the bottom of the A52
Anyway, I tried

Thanks Jules - as it happens I'm on a run on night shifts next week so visiting museums versus sleeping is a problem. I wonder if they'll let me pitch a tent in the computer room. I only when I've had a few 's...

That would depend whether or not it was one of those pop-up tents 'cos if not I don't think the pegs would go into the floor !

It's a crap museum. In fact, it ought to be IN a museum.

It should never have been on there, Hyp.
The one I went to was quite good, though, back then.

I feel moved to stand up for Derby, a little bit at least.
We're comparing it with Nottingham, right?
Well...Derby is...adequate
