I've found out that I would have made more money if I had been holding Alan Shearer shares rather than Kieron Dyers. His payout was slightly higher and share price somewhat lower.
Even so I'm not too fussed. I still managed to pick the investment that generated the second highest earnings per share last week

not sure a boiled golfer is much good anyway - might turn into a limp mess and not be able to hit the ball

Maybe, maybe not. Anyway the deal is done.
Garcia is no more. I now have a nice pile of Singhs and Mickelsons in his place

Sigh might have been a mistake. The market, as of 4:25pm, seems to have flattened out. I might need to do some profit taking here and move on

It seems to be a hard life being a wheeler dealer!

Not really, it's quite good fun actually
I did do the profit taking, and then I went and sold the Mikelsons as I wasn't sure whether that growth rate was going to be sustained.
I put the whole lot into some guy called Luke Donald - no I've never heard of him either - and since investing his stock has risen 15%

Glad to hear you are enjoying it
What sport does Luke Donald play?

GreyDesk Posted Apr 8, 2005
He's a golfer who is doing rather well right now at the Masters in Augusta.
And his stock has risen a further 41% so far today

It's gone up to 53% for the day as of this moment in time
And my personal profit on the deal is in the region of 65%, because I got in on the action before the serious rises in price happened

Saturday morning, 9th April.
Yep, I'm *definitely* getting the hang of this game now
My stats, as calculated at 6am this morning by the BBC show that I have achieved:
- a 396.28% rise in my stock value over the last 7 days.
- 466th place in the overall table.
- Amongst the 30 other traders around my position in the table are folk who have at one point or another filled 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the table. Of the remaining twenty five, 8 have had a top 100 placing. So I feel I can say that I've arrived at the top level.
- True Bottletop is still beating me in the h2g2 mini-league. But he's good at this thing, so that's alright.
- I've stuck another 13.2% on to the value of my portfolio in the 4 hours since the Beeb did it's calculations, so I'm still heading in the right direction.
All I need to do now is to work out my strategy for a win bonus on this afternoon's Grand National...

I don't have the time to monitor my investments so continuously I therefore tend to 'rest' my stock in contentious people. There will rarely be a week when Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger are not in the news, so I hold them almost continuously.
I look for bonuses on Internationals and other events where a clear winner seems pickable. The Grand National is difficult - I've gone for a Martin Pipe holding.

Oh good, Hedgehunter won the National.
I had 35% of my total holding on Ruby Walsh, that's some 40,000+ shares, which at £1.50 per winning share gives me another £60k to spend

Monday 8:30pm.
I missed out on a Tiger Woods pay day. I'd misread the closing time for the Win Bonus and converted my Mikelsons to Tigers about 20 minutes too late
Never mind, they continued to rise in value all the way through yesterday. Once the Vijay Singhs that I'd been holdng since cashing in on the National results flattened out, they got turned into Tigers as well.
First thing this morning I got rid of all the Tiger Woods shares and have had them primarily in Clive Woodward with a side order of Brian O'Driscoll and Jonny Wilkinson.
I'm not too sure what to do about holding shares over Tuesday and Wednesday to generate a dividend. I've got until midnight to think about it.
My tentative plans are to see if any of the golfers Woods/Singh/the other bloke stop dropping in price (they've been plummeting all day due to the masters being over) and then buy and hold for maximum dividend. Add to this a few shares from an undervalued footballer and I might get a reasonable return.
Or alternatively I could give the whole dividends thing up as a bad job and just daytrade right through.
Decisions, decisions....

See this is where I miss out - I hold a load of Tigers having bought in Saturday - by the time I'm looking at Sportdaq - he's dropped.

Despite appearances to the contrary, I don't actually spend my entire life hooked up to the internet and h2g2. Though I will admit my absences during an average working day are not usually less than 6 hours in length (today will be an exception).
I reckon that I check and / or trade on the index about 4 times between 8am and 8pm. After 8pm my presence usually becomes a little more continuous.
Anywsy, Tuesday 12th April.
I'm now top of the h2g2 Superstars mini-league with a 788.81% growth (and 168th overall) in the last week to Bottletop's 710.97%
I've kept about two-thirds of my wealth where it was in the Clive Woodward shares. This seems to have been the right decision as they are still top of the tree in terms of growth in the last few hours.
The rest is split more or less evenly between Luke Donald and Michael Owen. My feeling being that their will be enough residual interest in both for dividend purposes to keep their prices at least static for the next couple of days. In fact the Donald shares have actually gone up a few pence over night, so that's just gravy on top
