just wanted pop over and say sorry if what some people said in that thread really offended you. I don't think anyone meant anything by it. but please take my personal apology if it came across that way.

Thats very sweet of you. My description of showed that what I said was slightly toungue in cheek. And furthermore I do agree with some of the comments that the quality of our questions did dip during our headlong charge

Just checkin'
all in all it's been very good natured. I just didn't want something silly getting out of control and spoiling it.
I've yet to read the backlog of our forum that tipped us over 10K - 'pparently it's worth the read!

Hello Clive,
First I wonder if you are still subscribed to this conversation or not? If by chance you are I have a favour to ask.
My *speed freak* questioning buddies have finally realised that they've pretty much killed off the Questions Only thread with the mass use of the back button in the head long chase for posting stats. There are very few people still involved in the thread who are there for the pleasures of questions as conversation, for the simple reason that their contributions just get swamped.
My request is, would you use your good offices as Warlord to recruit some of your fellow Thingites to a thread that is darn good idea? I don't believe that another silly arms race to reach some numerical target will happen again, and that your contributions will be well received. Heck lets face it the Thingites know how to do a Thing with style
Yours respectfully,
GreyDesk

yup, still subscribed! (I rarely unsubscribe from forums for precisely this reason.)
stop it! - you'll make me
Sure, I'll put the word about. Truth be told - I occasionally dipped my toe into the Questions Only thread a long time ago. and I thought it was a good idea too - I liked all of the who's line is it anyway games.
Looking back on it, the two 'great super-powers' of H2G2 in their own arms race! - kinda funny really.

Sorry about earlier this evening.
* hangs head in shame *
Others goaded me into it you see. That said it I think its rather a neat idea to have a visible place for "disenters" to put across their views - and right now it seems to be the most popular "Thingite" thread
On a total change of subject. Are you going to go to the meet or not? I remember reading in some thread or another that you were having second thoughts for some reason

Probably now yes I am but it's still a might- if you see what I mean. I'm gona ring my relatives in London and see if I can inhabit a bed for one night.
Actually a little bit of dissent is always good, keeps the troops on their toes - that sort of thing. Why else do you think we employ Ottox? He realy is an excellent nemesis for a Warlord to have - always scheming and plotting against us, excellent stuff.
Totally misguided of course, - and he will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes (and it will!)
The irony of the endevour as I see it is that the more popular the dissenters thread gets, the higher it puts us on the 5 busiest list. Who was it who said evil contains the seeds of it's own destruction?

So when are you getting your photos developed, or more precisely when are you getting *that* photo developed?
Any chance of an advance copy?

Well the films scheduled for developing on Poets (Fr**ay) I'm gonna have to load them all up to yahoo or msn or something which may take me a while - but I'll drop you a line once they are done...what's you e-mail cos we can't put url's in forums anymore.
Clive.

But a little bit of salad would have gone down a treat. The food at the pub was all rather too *deep fried* for my liking
I kept grabbing all the bits of garnish off of the trays to get a bit of the green stuff inside me.

I did nab some of the ciken wotsits but it's a good job I'd eaten before I got there (shh don't tell the italics this - but at the last meet-up the buffet didn't impress either so this time I came prepared...)

Michele with the "No, No, No" stories are rather good aren't they?
Posting here so as to not break the thread, as she's in one right now

yeah....and just to be controversial...You don't get content like that in QO.
(which to be ultra honest, I didn't enjoy the Answers only bit of the backlog , for reasons I've stated before...well it's not much fun is it?)

GreyDesk Posted Feb 25, 2002
I skipped over the Answers Only bit. I'd been away rather a long time you see (three weeks) and there was no way I was ploughing through that lot (3000+ posts). I just did a bit of dipping in the backlog.
If you ever visit QO you'll find the content quality has improved a lot. Still, Michele's contributions are classic - long may they continue
