When're you going to let us publish those fine tales of your in the UG?
I can make arrangements to be sure you're comfortable. I understand your predicament, but I can put a Flame entry under the UG Eds account, polish them myself and delete it at your whim.
I feel like Tantalus reaching for the fruit I cannot have.

Hi Jodan
Thanks for your message. I'm thinking about trying to get some of my work published, and I'm not sure if I'd be doing the right thing by having them featured in the UG before that happens. So what do you think?
In the past I haven't really thought too much about publishing, or made any sort of effort in that direction. I sent my first hard copy entry away to a few publishers recently. And effort it certainly was! Trying to meet any of the given guidelines was almost an impossibility. So in the end I went for a few publishers nearest to what I thought would be suitable. I told myself they would either like it or not - and tough luck if they didn't. That side of it is hard work.
I was looking for the UG entry on Friday. At first I thought there wasn't one, and it was only later in the evening as I glanced further down the front page that I noticed it had been moved. Not very prominent any more is it? That's very sad.
Hope everything is good with you.

Hi Flame
Yeah, we're fighting with the h2g2 eds about the placement of the UG blurb. Hopefully we'll be back to the old position soon enough. Actually, from an email I received this morning, I think we will get back to the old place.
I don't see why you couldn't put something in the UG before you try to get it published. There's no copyright issues to speak of... the copyright issue is the same putting an entry into the UG as putting it onsite at all. You still maintain control of it outside the BBC. And you have my word that we would delete the polished version if you felt the need for us to.
Everything is good with me, thanks. Hope all's fine with you as well.

I thought that was obvious, ha.
Thanks.

I'm a big softy really.
Okay, I've had a bit of a think. I'll take you up on your offer...... You can put whatever you wish in the UG. But the credit for changing my mind should really go to Spynxxx.
Cheers

Damn. Spynxxx always beats me at this.
What arguments did I fail to make?
I'm going to alert the UG group... it's open season on Flame!
So you're taking me up on the offer to allow your things in the UG or the whole thing, with the entries under the UG persona so that they can be deleted?
In a nutshell? Ahh! Someone get a nutcracker!
Flame Posted Aug 16, 2005
The whole thing please. There really shouldn't be any reason why I would need to delete anything - but I would still like to have that option.

J Posted Aug 16, 2005
Ok, I'll take care of that personally.
Should be a while before any of your entries comes through, unfortunately. You missed this month's picking round by two days.

The whole Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater who put his wife in a pumpkin shell story hardly prepared me for this sort of thing.
Who would have thought that a woman would voluntary shelter in a nutshell, especially a ravishing blonde who brings her own metaphorical bomb-shell to the tableaux.
And may I remind you all that a peanut is not a nut but a tubor, like a carrot or a 'tater? No I may not, eh? Ah well, then I won't try.
But thank you all for continuing to try. Cyberspace is a void in need of filling and it needs much more stuff and stuffing than I first imagined. Keep up the good words and good works. I will be here when I can.
peace

Hello Jodan
Good news. My Of Rivers Unseen story is to be published this year - one of the stories in a SF Anthology. It’s my first story to go into print, and as you can imagine I’m thrilled about it.
I’m currently putting together my bio - and I’d like to mention h2g2 as the place I got started with my writing. This information will be on the back cover of the book. Of course this might encourage readers of the book to check this site out. Good news for h2g2!
First of all - would you please remove A664207 - which is the original version of this story. I’ve rewritten it since then and I wouldn’t want anyone to be looking on the site and reading the old version. You always promised me that you would remove anything if I requested it.
But no fears - I do have the latest version on the site, A4926341 - and this is the version I will be submitting for the book - and I’m happy for it to stay here. I still have to make little tweaks to it, but when the final draft has been agreed with the publisher I’ll update it on the site.
Last but by no means least - can you sort out a problem I have with my Dream entry. The entry in question is A196328
It has my old user number (U645857) but some bright spark has credited Atlantic Cable as the writer and researcher of this work. AC kindly edited this work - but I can assure you I am both the writer and the researcher. So it has my user number and his name. (It should just be the user number as I deleted my old user name).
I believe what happened is this: The dream entry was in a conversation forum. When it was removed from the forum - whoever removed it noticed it only had a user number. So they added AC at this point.
I’ve been in touch with one of the other editors on the site and explained this before, but nothing has been done about it. All I’m asking is for Atlantic Cable’s name to be removed from my work.
Hope this all makes sense……
Cheers,
Flame

Oh! And I've just noticed that it says my Dream entry was created on 3rd November 1999 - which is well strange as I didn't join the site until 2004. That's the year I wrote that entry. I wonder how that happened? Can that be put right as well?
Sorry, but this really niggles me........

Jodan - is it really you here?
It's a crying shame you are not around the site much anymore, but what can I say?
I just thought I'd let you know that the nut finally cracked - and I've put The Witness back into the review forum - the new improved version of course!
You must take a look at the work by Ianhimself. Superb writer.
I hope all is well with you,
Pauline

Oh my goodness, apologies for ignoring you To answer your question for a while ago that someone else has probably since answered-
"Oh! And I've just noticed that it says my Dream entry was created on 3rd November 1999 - which is well strange as I didn't join the site until 2004. That's the year I wrote that entry. I wonder how that happened? Can that be put right as well?"
If it's an update, your stuff just gets pasted into the old entry, so it would appear older than it is. Same happened with my entries on NYC and Calvin and Hobbes.
Ianhimself? AWW guy? I may take a gander.
I still pop in and out. Just to say Hi to old friends. And I'm glad to hear you've put it back in I guess your nuts weren't as strong as I thought.
