Hi,
My name is Itai, I am an Israeli Jew.
I'd like to know what you think of the postings we made in PR, because I think an entry on the subject will always be problematic, and therefore I think it has little place as an edited guide entry.
There has been much more debate over it than you may recognise, because some things are done off PR by us scouts, and I's like to add your oppinions to these discussions as well.
It is the hottest PR entry I ever saw, it gets as much attention as 5 or 10 entries usually will. and it only started today.
I'll fill you up with what's going on as well, for you need this information in order to respond.
The idea is to either:
1. Move the article to the Writing Workshop, where many people may contribute to it. and try to make it a balanced entry.
or
2. Make it an entry that won't be in the guide, leaving you free to update and change it as you will, or keep it the way it is if you want, but it will not be in the edited guide.
I think that no matter how we try it will be verry difficult to make option 1 work. the subject is too contreversial, emotional and painfull.
I'd like to know where you are from and a little about you. I'm guessing you are a Palestinian.
Yours,
Itai Basel

and thanks for your visit. I've been looking through the PR forum each two or three hours but cuoldn't think of anything else to say. I'm sorry if my recommending that entry hurted your feelings, I didn't mean to offend you nor any jew in the world. No, I'm not palestinian, I'm spanish and probably catholic, as my ancestors have always been and I was baptized shortly after my birth. My interest in spanish history and in religions made me study arabic language, history, law and beliefs from their own point of view, so my heart is slightly more fond of Palestine cause than of yours and because of this I found the entry very accurate. Nevertheless, my head tries to be as objective as possible because I'm not so important or intelligent or informed or involved as to judge other people's actions or thoughts.
In my oppinion wherever there's pain, killing, abuse or privations people have the right to feel hurt and react in every possible way to ensure their survival and rights; this goes for jews as well as for palestinians.
I see know it was a rather unfortunate idea to propose that entry, I should have started a whole project on the issue. The thing is, I don't feel comfortable enough with english but, since the issue has received so much attention, thinking and efforts it probably deserves more than oblivion. What do you think? Could you or another israeli person work together with, say, a palestinian? Maybe the web is the only place where it is possible, and h2g2 the best site for it. I'd be very glad to contribute in any way you suggest.
Yours,
Ini.

Very well put Ini!
Don't know more that I could add, tho I'd like to know how many palestinians have www access in comparison to Israelis'?
Sorry Dancer,
but you did seem to be getting too emotionally involved to be unbiased in the PR thread.

Hi,
The problem is not working with a palestinian. I worked with palestinians a few times in the past IRL (in real life), I sure can work with them on the net.
The problem is what you work with them about, and I think this subject is sensitive.
The article you posted has many factual errors that both Palestinian and Israeli will agree on, but on every paragraph there are some things (Like Israel being "created") that will arouse much conflict.
Also, the writer of the article didn't say a word. Does he/she know it is in PR?
About Access to www, well, I belive it's not as wide as Israelis have, But they sure have (I only know that because a female arab chatted with a jewish boy, and set up to meet him, where terrorists waited for him and murdered him a few months ago).
I'm actually on the verge of giving up on blocking the bad reputation Israel gets. It is impossible to fight something that is supported by so much money(I mean the Arab propoganda).
I do not know what to say anymore.
I would like to discuss the situation with you, but my day is too short to even be doing all this. It's just that this subject is verry sensitive, and it makes me feel so awful because of how the world sees Israel, in relation to the way it is. It makes me shrink.
Only to demonstrate:
A huge amount of the Israeli songs (both old, ancient and new) are about peace and living in peace.
There is only one song about peace in Arabic that I know of. It's called "Salam" (which is peace in arabic) and was created by an Israeli with an arab. Even the one song about peace is not completely theirs, an Israeli had to go and push for it with an arab friend of his.
On the other hand, a lot of arab songs are about hate and war.
It's something in the education that is missing on their side.
Anyway, there are a lot of problems to solve, and I am getting more and more desparate every day. Only this morning they made a shooting, killing an Israeli citicen.
They work in the ways of terror. It's not the general public, it's just the goverment and some organisations. But this are the ones we have to deal with.
Yours,
Dancer.

Hi Ioreth,
thanks, I appreciate it, and I'll see you in your personal space.
It might not be a good idea to post in hebrew because the moderators usually don't know hebrew and therefore might hide the post
[Dear moderators, the previous post is in hebrew, but completely innocent. There's no need to hide it, I assure you, my word as a Scout and an H2G2 researcher ]
I'm in the process of reading your personal space, the links off it , your jurnal, and generally prying into your life here on H2G2, as soon as I feel it's right I'll probably post and contact you in your personal space
Peace,
Dancer

I know... sometimes I use hebrew when I react to things quickly, without stopping to think about it... I never did it in roman characters before though. zeh stam [trans: it's nothing!] (once upon a time two italics were from israel, yoz and shimon, but not anymore) anyhoo I'll do the investigation on you and then we'll be equally knowledgable. hooray!
