~ vainly attempts to fill in the missing bits ~

You might want to check out the American Museum of Natural History website. I would post the U-know-what here, but it would just get smiley - winkeye

Anyway, daVinci DID write in mirror-fashion, possibly to protect himself from being accused of witchcraft... or perhaps merely to annoy the moderators of his day. smiley - biggrin

His Leicester Codex was the subject of a full-scale exhibit at the museum. Good 'ol Bill Gates currently owns the manuscript.

Speaking of Aliens, if you like Escher, do you also like Giger's stuff? As you probably know, he designed the original 'Alien', as well as much of the set and props.smiley - monster

Write it in code.

He was ambidextrous wasn't he?

Stuff him.

Haven't seen him.

A stuffed and mounted 'Gates'.. Now there's a thought!!smiley - smiley

No one knows for sure if daVinci was naturally ambidextrous, or just trained himself out of sheer cussedness.smiley - grr

You wanted code, you got code:

"Well, Why Would A Magnificent New Heirarchical Organization Restore Gargoyles?"

Caps, and appropriate punctuation should get you there. smiley - winkeye

There are some Giger-sites on the web, too. Just do a search for 'H.R. Giger', or even just 'Giger' If you liked the set and props of 'Alien', you'll like Giger. Well, maybe 'appreciate' is more appropriate.smiley - monster

Oh, right, sorry.

I've been there but haven't had a chance to browse yet.

I'm not sure what to do. I might try and find some new people.

Hi again. I just read your revised home page. The 'alsos' didn't jump out at me, but you are probably right... I, too, tend to overuse certain words, for example:'actually'

In addition to the excellent advice and writing tips available at h2g2, you might want to check out Elements of Style, by Strunk. There is even a web-based version freely availablesmiley - smiley

If you get a chance, drop by my page again -- I just revised it!smiley - biggrin

I noticed you studied Tae-kwon-do for a while, and are interested in someday pursuing it or another martial art.

You might want to check out Aikido. It dosen't look as good, but is immensely practical, and perhaps not quite as hazardous during friendly practise.smiley - injured

BTW, I think the gliding thing is called 'ab-sailing', although I'm not sure about the hyphen.

Oh, okay...

BTW, you now have to tell me where your nickname comes from. smiley - smiley

I work out on my own, but currently have no training partner. It is difficult in the extreme to really get into martial arts without one. Kinda like one-person tennissmiley - winkeye

I bruised and battered myself up pretty good with judo, and then kempo karate, then kyokushinkai karate, then tae kwon do, then tai chi chuan, wing chun, and (finally!) aikido. I was fortunate to study the latter while living in Japan for nearly 18 months. After that, I was fortunate in meeting another martial arts enthusiast, and working out with him regularly for nearly 3 years. We both got pretty good, and had some interesting experiences, as we eventually ran an 'open' martial arts club... The most.. interesting people dropped bysmiley - winkeye

About my nickname... Seems I am finding out more about it all the time, and I will probably end up doing a Guide entry on it!smiley - smiley

The name originates with a mythical Merlin kind of person, in the pagan beliefs of the Celtic Welsh.smiley - elf

I came across the name while looking at Celtic mythology, and it just struck my fancy.

Apparently there is a village in Cardiganshire, an architectural college in California, and a challenging, chess-like board game all named after the mythic charactersmiley - yikes

Now I'll reply properly. Where do you find the time to be online so often? Don't you have school, or if you're too ancient for that, uni, or work????????????????????? And do you get internet bills at all? Please explain the Candy/Alberqueue (?) thingo again please, I still don't get it smiley - sadface

Oh, are you Canadian?

Wow...you sure have done a lot of martial arts.

Hmmm...is it anything like your real name? Why did you choose it?

I usually go online for just a few hours each night, but will probably increase that as soon as I get a data dedicated phone line. My ISP bill is not huge, and I have unlimited hours available. The downside is the slow transfer rate.

I am currently learning javascript, but am not going to school. I will be posting a bio page quite soon, which may answer some of your questions. Of course, most of this stuff is classifiedsmiley - winkeye

Ah, the 'Candy/Alberquerque' thing. When you posted that fictitious phone number to annoy/test the modz, I of course realized it was fake, having figured out your warped sense of humour by then. So, to pull your leg, I pretended that I had actually believed it was a real number, and that you were someone called Candy who lived in Alberquerque. Don't ask me how I came up with it, just my smiley - sillysmiley - drunk zanyness

Yes, I confess I am a Canadian. More exciting Canadiana will doubtless present itself on my soon-to-be-released bio page.

I became interested in Martial Arts in junior secondary school, primarily for self protection. After that, I just kind of got really into it after seeing a demonstration of Aikido on TV. At the time there were no convenient Aikai nearby, so I did the best I could studying whatever form I could.

My real name has Welsh roots, so I suppose that was one of the reasons. I confess I am a reader of fantasy, (got to be good, though!), so the romance of the name also appealed.

I'll let you know whenever I post new pages. BTW, have you seen my links for newbies page, yet?

it's here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A537932

I can never write much because most of the time I'm not meant to be on h2g2! smiley - tongueout

Where are you learning javascript?

Oh you horrible (girl/boy/woman/man) <--- select appropriate

Whenever someone attacked me I'd attack them right back...I always did it harder so guess who got in trouble even though they started it...then I started tkd and basically had to vow I wouldn't wallop anyone...but if I'd needed to I could've...

How's it pronounced? I think of it as "Tal-ee-zin" but I might be wrong. Of course, there's the Welsh accent too...

Nope. Do you mean people to welcome? I just picked a few random numbers after 170000 and went and welomed people.

What's this renovating business?

yes, they are loooong! makes 'em more challenging to keep track of!

We are all meant to be on h2g2, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! We are h2g2. you will be assimilated. resistance is ridiculous as well as futile!

I am learning javascript all by myself, with the help of thousands of examples scattered on the web. I am anxiously awaiting arrival of the 'javascript bible', so maybe I will start to understand what the heck I'm doing!

Not horrible. wicked, perhaps, puckish, certainly, but never horriblesmiley - winkeye

Nice to have that kind of confidence, though, isn't it?

I am not sure of the pronunciation. Likely it is unpronounceable to anyone not fluent in Welsh Gaelic. It may be something like: tahl-EYE-ess-in, with the stress on the second syllable.

I have created a links page for newbies to help them find their way around. It has the links to things like the welcome message, and links to the Guardian Angels, ACEs etc. Having one link to post in a new researcher's message center is easier, and potentially more fun for the new researcher, when they come looking for it...Check it out at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A537932

I am building a few extra pages, linked to my intro page, which I am also 'renovating'

I have added a 'bio' page, and will shortly add a 'notebook' page, listing things I would like to do, or do again in life; a 'library' page, listing books, music and movies, a 'something else' page because I am the Keeper of Something Else and need a place to put it; and a 'theatre/tavern' page, because I always wanted to run a theatre/tavern.

Check out that last one at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A539129, if you have timesmiley - smiley
