Reading inner space...

~ jwf ~ I wondered if you'd be interested in having a thread here where we could occasionally relate dreams. I know you are really into them, as am I but I have no no fixed idea about them..in any case I think some dreams are 'bigger', with more layers than others...and maybe something else.

But the reason I thought to start this, was that you recently referred to having something dissed in a thread to do with 'reading' in dreams. Last night I had such a dream. It was a piece of text I had to memorise for giving a reading in public the next day. Try as I might, I couldn't commit it to memory because it was written in a complex way...though very well written I thought in the dream, in fact I loved it. The words were clear but somehow I couldn't quite hang them together and yet I knew it was good stuff. I couldn't work out why I was having such a problem memorising...except maybe the complexity of the structure of the text.

smiley - laugh In the dream I actually said to someone. "I can't understand it because I memorised nearly the whole of Macbeth for my English 'O' level."

I'm not looking for us to interpret everything, except playfully like friends might. As I said on that 'reality' thread, it can feel a bit like trampling on someone's unconscious; obviously sensitivity can sometimes be called for...well that's me, an oversensitive soul about some things.

We could even include things like day dreams or whatever to do with inner space?

Just a now and then thread. And anyone dropping by could chuck something in.

Okay, over to you if you are interested.

Strangely enough I was reading at length in a dream
a few days ago and became 'conscious' of someone who
was telling me it was not possible. They were anonymous,
out of view, but I knew it was whoever had rejected the
idea at h2g2 and I just smiled and kept on reading.

I wanted to remember what it was I was reading because
it was new to me and if I did recall it later it would prove
I not only read but actually learn and make new discoveries
while asleep.

smiley - laugh

Of course this 'self-conscious' moment changed the level
of sleep I was in and I may have even got up to have a pee.
End result being I completely forgot the whole affair until
just now reading your message.

Weather is sunny and warm here today so I'm out to ride around
on my lawn mower for the next few hours and get a good start on
my annual sunburn.

Sorry I've not been in touch; unwell. Better now.

That's an amazing dream.

Strangely I've had lots of reading dreams since this thread started. Best one was of old paintings that someone had written verse on in kind of layers in the present like translucent..stain glass effect...hard to explain.

Someone called George Holt had done them. Have no idea where that came from.

Interesting visual - the onion skinned glass effect,
a kind of crystal coating, watery eyes...

Sorry to hear you've been unwell.
Glad to hear you're feeling better.
Hate to see you miss the Olympix.

Take care

My actual tickets arrived this week and I'm very excited again. Feeling better helps and I'm planning on going to the boxing, evening session August 1 AND the biggie, athletics on evening 10 August. If I'm unwell again from chemo I'll just do the athletics and give away the boxing one.

smiley - snork My boxing one is for bantam AND heavy and super heavy weight, round of 16.

The athletics highlight for me will be the mens' 4 X 400 metres final. We Brits love our relays, but I also get to see round 1 of the mens 4X100M. Seeing that speed will be awesome. There's also some long distance stuff, pole vault and hammer.

The whole Olympic park is planted up with wildflower meadow, (did they copy me? smiley - winkeye), but from around the world.

The crowd atmosphere will be incredible I think. I can't believe how many mad people have turned out in the pouring rain to see the torch relay..I don't get that...and its been blown out and drenched on numerous ocassions smiley - laugh

So watch the telly for the evening athletics on 10 August and look out for me smiley - biggrin

I'll force myself to resist.

Good news to report from the pond. Remember we spoke about dragon flies earlier this year..well I saw a beautiful damsel fly laying eggs on the frog bit leaves today. They are like small delicate dragon flies...Shall upload some pics later, of my attempt at a photo..difficult. After laying she was a bit frisky and nervy, flitting around on grass and stuff and I just snapped as best I could.

Managed to get something...and as you can see everything has got a bit battered with all the wind and rain and foxes scampering all over it.

Not doing much for inner space am I? A bit jittery at present. They are hopeful my present problems are due to inflamation/side effects and not something more sinister...but I have to be prepared they said. But I have various plans of things I want to do, and shall do. The hospital are very supportive of this and if the worst should happen will help through drugs. Sleep's a bit difficult so dreams are even more unlikely tonight.

I hope I'm not too much bother with this stuff..but you're one of my best mates here.

Those pics were amazing. I discovered I could zoom in on them
and they enlarged to a size where the detail was scarily huge.
smiley - yikes

Came by here this morning just to say that the format of my dreams
seems to be changing these past couple of weeks. They are more
like one act plays or old fashioned skits or tv sit-coms - with one set
and all the characters entering and exiting stage right or left.

All the big wide-screen panoramas are gone, no special effects or
3D or camera dolly shots, zooms or pans - just a simple stage set
and some of these obvious and amateurish painted flats and scrims.

The lighting is also fairly drab and plain and the performances are
bland and the content is quite normal and unmemorable. It's all like
watching some sort of amateur variety show in a church hall with
no real vitality or significance. No drama, no tension, no emotion.

No edits, all in real time, no flashbacks, no close-ups...

smiley - laugh You poor thing. It won't last forever though.

Well mine have changed too. Back to lots of vehicle dreams since getting Mothy Flywheels. But I take as a very good omen the first one. It was the usual thing of me driving in a scary scenario..about to be squashed by a lorry or accidentally getting on a motorway, (I don't drive on them in real life because they give me panic attacks), but in this dream the brim of my Aussie bush hat came down and stuck over my eyes and wouldn't budge..I was driving blind. I decided to use my instincts..well what else to do? I came gently to a stop by the side of the road, having negotiated a bend..I was chuffed at my new skill.

(You might like to pop into my Holly Blue journal. A familiar turned up today).

Howdy do.
I know you're not spending as much time here these days,
and that's probably a good thing because cyberspace can
not offer you the real senses your mind craves.

But I woke this morning from a strange and complex dream
involving cars, my old Jesuit University, a family of three
that could have been Jesus Mary and Joseph (who steal my
strange Lamborghini station wagon) leaving me to climb a
stairway (long and steep with an iron railing like an old
fashioned subway or railway station) where I meet a girl
coming the other way who takes me to her office to report
the theft only to discover the family of three is there
but suddenly the hippy father (Joseph) turns into a real
goofy redneck claiming to have been my biggest fan....

I sorta wake up and as I usually do, begin to roll over
and go back to sleep, but a lingering sense of social
responsibilty demands I ask myself what time is it.
"10 to 7" says a voice in my head with an amused and
superior tone like someone who knows an inside joke.
So I get up and on the way to the loo I see the hall
clock - the big hand is on 10 and the little on 7.

Does the mind have powers to see thru walls and round
corners? Are there external spirits watching over us?

The only thing I'm sure of is the general re-assurance
that it's all a joke and most of it is backwards.

A friend sent me this link claiming it belongs

Kinda cute in a mechanistic post modern nostalgic way.
Drop in and tell them you heard about if from a Canadian

a cousin of the artist in resid... transit.

Greetings my old mucka. Happy bonfire night..well Halloween has gone decidedly effete here. Kidiwinks' paraphernalia for sale in the supermarket or born-again pagans prancing. It's enough to get the ancestors turning to bornagain atheism smiley - winkeye Nah for me its something that happens at this time of year that is genuinely of the dark, best expressed by big bonfires, jumping jacks, rockets and catherine wheels and bangers. (Yes I know the proddies hijacked it so the effigy was poor old Guido..but still it has roots and chutzpah that can't be Disneyfied in the various ways.

I only drop in here occasionally now, as you may have noticed smiley - winkeye. Real life is much more taken up with art again. I have a new studio and relish the old struggles with the cruel mistress that is Art. Online is so much better for me somewhere else. Lots of artists amongst others, locals. Basically people I don't have to tediously try to explain anything to. You can share with the knowledge that people know the difference between meaningless twaddle and the real Macoy, because they understand about layers..without 'layers' its all 'surface' and decoration for effect. But I know you know this.

So tomorrow at the crack of dawn on All Hallows its off for a CT scan...now that's real scary. Chemo finished a few weeks ago and I can gradually feel the energy rushing back in to me..though the doctors have been amazed how well Ive actually been given how near dying I was. That's been hard to come to terms with..and still haunts me a bit. And I've no idea what the future holds...but really things are SO much better in many ways since I got back to being an artist again and mixing with such.Sometimes I wonder how I ever coped here so long..it never really worked out for me smiley - snork and it was seriously horrible at times when I was so mentally vulnerable last year.

The car is going great; I love her loads..and really I still can't get over the many shades of blue and graphite she has in different lights.

I really hope things are good with you.

Hope you read this and thanks for that link to that interesting space on the underground. Reply if you want or not. I maybe back at some point but I'm staying in quietly tonight just enjoying being alive.

Good to hear from you.

You may have heard of the massive destruction
that has occurred in New Jersey where a 14 foot
tidal surge has destroyed the Jersey Shore. The
governor Chris Christie has just declared that
Halloween is being officially moved to Nov 5th.
smiley - laugh
I don't know if he realises this is the traditional
date for bonfires and fireworks but the irony of
shifting it to Guy Fawkes day amuses me.

I am often easily amused.
