What's the prettiest but reliable car to get?

Post 81

Effers;England.

My aspirtion now is to get a very dull and down to earth car..reliable but not pretty. But I still can't imagine being able to drive.

It's getting more than I can bare. I got a cab to the supermarket and started crying in the shop..and I'm having some strange ideas about being punished for my crimes.

A friend is coming over and I'm taking an anti psychotic.

What have I done ~ jwf ~ I always ate so healthily. They say its probably genetic as some relatives had it..so there's nothing I can do to stop it coming back.

I wish I knew what to suggest.
There was a time when I thought all you needed to do
was come to grips with your childhood trauma over the
stolen marbles.
smiley - doctorsmiley - erm
But it seems that over the years this anomalous factor
has manifest itself into everything related to glass.
Like car windows and storefronts and eyeglasses and
maybe even computer screens...
smiley - weird
Seriously. Try breaking some glass. Not much, maybe just
a small drinking glass. Careful not to cut yourself. But
perhaps it will prove therapeutic. Light a candle and put
your palms together smiley - grovel and get your self centered.

Right I'm too excited, and you're the first human to know other than the bloke in the local motor spares shop that's been there for donkies' years. Called in on a couple of close neighbours but they are out smiley - cross so I decided on a Canadian in Canada smiley - biggrin

She a beautiful and enigmatic shade of blue grey with a slightly silver sheen, Peugeot 307. 1.6 litre, 7 years old with 50,000 miles on the clock. Recently had new clutch, (no automatics for me please) and seemingly in good condition. The guy knows I live just down the road and he'll the end of it if I've been sold a pup.

He's saved me no end of hassle going out to people's houses or garaged I don't know so well and buying something. It's local and I beat him down £500 so honour is satisfied in my bargaining department. Pick up next week.

(With regards the scooter, now called 'Holly' that's all put off 'til the spring. Guys hospital were dead agin it until the chemo is over in November)>

It's so cool and I so needed a car due to health problems associated with the side effects, plus I'll be able to head off to the countryside to take panoramas.

No I'm not telling you what I paid, but it was fair..

Hope you're pleased as well smiley - ok

I always admired those early 2000 Peugeots
when I saw then in World Rally Competitions.
Very smart styling for such a nimble car.
Congrats!

Can't decide whether to call her 'Moth' or 'Lynx'. I prefer moths to butterflies...creatures of the night and all that...and they are furrier and cuddlier to keep warm. Holly really is a bit of a butterfly though..

Lynx..yes I know you have them in Canada...a very shy big cat living in the ancient temperate forests. Mac will probably use that at some point for an OS (I doubt they'll use 'Tabby or Moggy smiley - snork My friend Stripey is a bit put out.

And it's a mens deodorant as well.

Probably be Moth I think.

Is it all grey and fuzzy then?
smiley - laugh
Good name though.

Of course there was a Japanese Sci-fi monster called Mothra.
A big terry-dactile like birdy thing with insect-like wings
and fiery breath and radioactive eye-ball beams.

My choice of name would be "Gypsy"

Nice to see you logicus. Hmm Gypsy...it's Mothy now. Took your 'Y' from Gypsy. Will make a point of Flywheels.

I may have to visit the Tuvans of Siberia.

'...Among the Tuvans the cult of springs (arzhan), especially that of medicinal springs was intertwined with the cult of the trees growing around the springs. This was especially true of the trees whose growth or shape differed from the usual - for instance, they had a double trunk, or their fronds consisted of branches grown irregularly. Trees of this kind were called "shaman trees." I took a picture of one such tree in Yakutia in 1990 (Hoppál 1995: 227) - if such a tree stood near a spring, under the tree shamans made their ceremonies.

Passers-by usually stopped - and even today, they stop their cars - at these special trees, and place some money, tie a little piece of their clothes or handkerchiefs on it branches, put a comb or some other personal belongings. They attribute special powers to these trees, and they maintain that the trees bring good fortune in travelling, and that they protect people from accidents. This belief is a sign of unconditional trust in the power of nature, of a conviction which supposes the powers of nature to be so strong as to control human destiny as well...'

The section on 'animism' especially interests me. Not so dissimilar to Aussie Aboriginal ideas of inner/outer space connection. I like to learn about the cultural context of spirituality...rather than some Westerners desire to grab a hold of these ideas out of context and unconsciously impose a whole prism of our culture on their understanding of such things.. Not that I'm agin it when sensitively, respectfully done and with full acceptance of a struggle to bridge cultural divide. The journey will involve crossing rivers as well as mountains I think.

And here she is:-

http://www.flickr.com/photos/unbland/sets/72157630653672226/

She seems really well looked after for 7 years old and has Pirelli and Michelin tired with loads of tread. The interior is a little plasticky compared with my old golf, brimming with brutal build quality...but you can't have everything and I'm pleased to have now gone French.

(Saw some brilliant vehicles today, when out and about..yes we had a bit of sun..people went mental. A cool BSA motorbike with an old guy on board;...a weird creamy coloured funeral car minus coffin, but with a black flag flying on the top of the bonnet, the guy kept speeding round the block...I think he was lost; a couples of girlies in their show pony Mini cooper cabriolet, (God I'm glad I didn't get one), with a load of furniture all stacked in and piled high on the back seats..

God I remember the bad times on this thread last year when I was in such a bad way mentally...and talked about my inner car being a home made go cart whose wheels were going in all directions. I feel much more integrated now and ironically happier at present. An encounter with grim reaper can be quite awesome...

Have designed a windscreen sun strip for the car....'Flywheels' I chose an Italian sloping font in an orangey colour, (orange being the complimentary colour to blue will emphasise her blueness). It's amazing how many different colours she looks in different lights. There's a small shadow effect to the letters in a dark bluey grey.

It arrived on Friday and I've put it under a rug and weighed down to flatten it as it arrived in a tube.

But...I've had a read of the application process..and just know I'll make a mess of applying it. It's a tricky job I can see. I'm going to have to get a pro to do it...hopefully it won't cost too much.

I was surprised to see I had not replied to your previous

looked like a nice care and I really thought I had said so.
