Terran Started conversation Dec 30, 2002
Hi jwf,
I'm not sure if you're still interested or not, but you told me to remind you in a few weeks about my story "The 168 greatest Story in the Universe" (A896998), to see if you would be interested in putting it up, and well here I am . The second part (A903016) is now up as well, with the third to follow soon.
Thanks,
Terran

Hi Terran and thanks.
What with the holiday season and two weeks off, I'd completely lost track of all the pending submissions. Hope some of the other researchers I made promises to will also remember to remind me.
The next issue of CAC is coming in the Jan 9 edition of .
We still haven't decided who will be editing that one.
I'm going to start building a new issue/page soon and I'll include your story, so it could appear as early as Jan 9 and if not then probably the next week.
After I get the page built I'll let you know here where you can find it for a preview.
peace

Just as well I decided to finish it off and stick it up then . It looks great
Though you don't think your over stating it a little by saying "epic"? Not that I'm complaining of course .
Anyway I just hope people enjoy reading it as much as I have writing it (and yes I have enjoyed writing it ). Sometimes I don't even know what is going to happen next, which makes things interesting for me. I have a vague ending in sight, and even a possible sequel, once this is finished.
Mmm... I wonder whether I should let you in on the real reason for why I chose 168... nah I think I'll just keep the suspense
Anyway I hope you like part 3.
Terran - with Part 4 still in his head.

When comes out on Thursday, the CAC page will be the Post's 'copy' of it, which will have another A-number and be linked from the Front Page of . Their published version also becomes the 'archived' definitive version of our page.
May I suggest that you then 'reply' there, and tell everyone your secret, as an honest response to our speculations. The conversation thread you start there (call it Terran's Revenge or the Continuing Saga or something compelling but identifiably connected to you and your entry) will remain a part of the Archived version of our page and always be accessible to future researchers sifting thru our backlog of issues.
You can also inform readers there of upcoming sequel(s) including the A-number link to Part Three. It is too late for me to include that number on our original page (which you have seen) because the Posties have probably by now made their own copy which I can't edit.
And when you have Part Four and subsequent installments ready you can come back to that conversation and provide a link. Let us know if you get any response, but be warned that folks tend to accept these things 'as presented' (like movies, radio, newspapers). The lack of feedback is not a true reflection of interest or readership, it is just human behaviour, a normal reaction to 'given' or pre-packaged entertainment. They enjoy them (or hate them) but are rarely moved to consider making any effort to comment publicly.
thanks again for contributing,
peace

Having said all that I did make revision to our version A913529 in hope that the Posties have not yet made their copy. We'll have to wait for now and see.

D'you know jwf, you seem to be one of the most intelligent people I have ever met on here. I'm not normally a lurker. I'm more of a wanderer, the difference being the threads I tend to bump in to by accident I usually leave a message in. But (to get to the point) the conversations I saw you in seemed a little sensitive for me to leave a comment, so I had to lurk. But what I read impressed on to me that you have a huge knowledge base and that you are able to convey it to people, and use it to great effect. Not only that but you appear to be a great mediator. I attempt to do something similar as an ACE, to varying degrees of success, but occasionally I will unintentionally rush it and (though I have made no major blunders yet, perhaps more luck than design) make a bit of a mess of it. I was just impressed at the way you deal with things in the community. Anyway enough creeping for one night .
I was genuinely impressed with what you do on here, and keep up the good work . I've got to learn off you people . Though just out of curiousity, why aren't you an ACE?

Thank you. It's heartwarming to hear I am appreciated. But preserving the spirit of this site (as I see it), against the evil bureaucracy and the ego-centric horrors of Peer Review is what I do. <./>AggGag-CAC isn't a job, it's a political position, a philosophical point of view, 'noblesse oblige', or as the scorpion said, "It's who I am, it's what I do." >> Though just out of curiousity, why aren't you an ACE? << No one ever asked me. And quite honestly I could never commit to such a responsibility because: 1. it would mean learning new tricks, 2. and talking to new people and 3. following instructions and protocols 4. and having to talk to a lot of newbie idjuts 5. promoting a site which desperately needs better direction 6. taking time away from all the fun I have here. That said, I must admit to having enjoyed the ACE impulse from time to time, especially

Whoa, 4 weeks don't half fly by when your having fun. I'm actually thinking about giving up the ACE scene, as I'm not sure I am being fair to my fellow ACEs given my lack of time to actually do any aceing.
I just thought I'd let you know I've asked the post to serialise the story, and they've said yes. I hope this is alright.

Glad to hear the story continues
And congratulations on getting your own spot in
If thinks the story makes a good serial, and you are able to keep cranking them out, then I am doubly glad.
And if <./>AggGag</.>/CAC can take a little bow for encouraging you this far, then I am TRIPLY glad.

I'm glad your glad
Future Prefect finished last week, so I assume I'll be in either this week or next week. I'm just adding the finishing touches to part four now, and I know where I'm going with part five, so I should be able to crank out quite a few more, and theres also that sequel I promised in the back of my head...
Anyway I'm not sure I would have done much more than the first one you saw, as when you said you would like to put it in AggGagCac I went home and wrote the whole of part two. So go on, your more than welcome to take a bow for your part in inspiring me onwards.
Just if your seeing triple like that, you may want to see a doctor .
Thanks,
Verc

There is definately something about h2g2 thats different. Its a good way to get messages across, and it gives you more time to think than a messenger service or a real life conversation. Though I have to say nothing beats a real life debate .

Dances On Books!
Kinda makes ya feel like you have to read the story to figger it out. And that's what a good illustration should do.

What do you think of how part 2 leads on from part 1? And by the way did you see my story in the CAC "Life and Artfeld McNalty" - I was pleasantly surprised to see some came in to pick it
