If I had a hammer

Hello dmitri, I thought we'd maybe better take our conversation here. PBS has a very slow internet connection and youtube links take him ages to download, so he probably won't know what we're talking about.
Mexican music made me think of this:

and while searching for it I came across this:

I had to turn the sound down on the computer: there are Mexicans over my head.smiley - winkeye

That song is considered, er, politically incorrect.smiley - whistle

You did mention a leaking roof, didn't you? smiley - whistle

I didn't know the song wasn't pc, but then I guess I'd have thought of it nevertheless. smiley - laugh

smiley - rofl Yes, the roof was leaking. Though not of adobe.

The cartoon character caused some furor back in the day, because it annoyed our southern neighbours...don't blame them, really...

The Canadians didn't get mad about 'Dudley Dooright', but then, Jay Ward and Bill Scott are Canadians...

Leaking roofs make me think of this, though:

(I'm allowed to do this one, my great-aunt had a cabin just like that in Arkansas.)

Very funny lyrics smiley - rofl
I find the vocals horrible, though.

I've just started watching England's auditions for Eurovision 2009. smiley - bigeyes

smiley - rofl Oh, the poor British.

They would be better off letting that Irish turkey puppet sing Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I found the Emperors of Soul quite good, actually, but maybe Beatrice is right and Jade will make it. smiley - erm

I suppose it was inevitable that the Eurovision Song Contest would end up spawning reality shows.smiley - laugh

I always used to like the off-beat entries. Turkey and Morocco could usually be counted on to make it fun.

I don't think Morocco ever took part as it doesn't belong to Europe.
Having said that, neither does Israel, but they take part. smiley - erm

I remember seeing Morocco back in the 80s.smiley - laugh Don't know if they still participate, we just used to see it on tv in Germany.

I was still going to school that year, I just looked it up (not my school smiley - silly):

Have a look at the German entry, there's more (and interesting) information there.

smiley - laugh I work as a gm for an MMORPG - Massive Multiuser Online Roleplaying Game. You know, where people use their dollies to fight monsters and each other.

I do this because somebody has to help the German players.smiley - whistle Who hate it when you babelfish at them...

I lived in the Rheinland, mostly, in the 70s and early 80s (one year in Munich, one in Bonn, four in Cologne). I studied at German universities, and taught English and German-for-foreigners at a commercial school.

I've got to go off to work now, but I'll check in with hootoo during my 'lunch' break, about 3 am, your time.

Have a good evening!

Oh, and where in Germany do you live?

That's not Silkroad you're working for? Probably not, I think they sit in Asia.

It's funny, of the three cities you lived in, I've only ever been to one, namely Cologne.

I live in Frankfurt (Main), more precisely where it says 'B'Elana's house' here:

Hope to talk tomorrow (I don't think I'll be up at 3.00am).

Hi. smiley - smiley

I'm not sure in how far you know that I'm smiley - thepost's content editor and such always on the look-out for good material. I've just started reading your Freedom of Association piece, and I wondered if you'd be willing to submit it to The Post? I know I should ask Rich for his opinion first, but I can't imagine he'd have a problem with that, on the contrary.
