In the wild
Posted Apr 1, 2008
I discovered the http://www.bookcrossing.com/ thing long ago, but yesterday I finally decided to let a book in the wild!
I left my copy of Empire of the ants by Bernard Werber at the airport. OK, I asked my brother to drop it, he left again for Munich yesterday, but it was my book so the deed is mine!
Well, I admit, it was not a book I liked very much, to be honest I actually suffered through it, but nevertheless I feel very excited about letting it travel. I keep checking its entry every half an hour, hoping that somebody will write "I took it and I am going to release it again"!
Let's see...

Farewell Goo!!!
Posted May 22, 2007
My, my, such a long time has passed since I last wrote a thing in my hootoo journal! Shame on me!
Well, it definitely has been hectic the last few months (OK, the whole year was like that!) but searching for a new job and later getting adjusted to it is hardly an excuse!
Coming here this morning I also noticed that after reading through couple of treads my eyes started watering. I have noticed this wired classic goo related eye problems before and even though I am a great fan of the blue colour and the goo outline I think I am going to change NOW!
Pity, but...

Night encounter
Posted Jul 25, 2005
And so every night you go to sleep having no idea what surprises await the opening of your eyes!
Like waking up in the dead of the night (weeelll.. it was 6 a.m. really, but that's beside the point! ) to the sound of birds chirruping loudly. And then you open one eye (with efforts!) and behold - a sparrow perched on the stereo! Just sitting there commenting on the furnishing (or the lack of food or... who cares!) in VERY LOUD voice!
Scary images of birds splattered on my window loomed into my mind!
I thought. Yes, he (yes, it was he - I had an unknown guy in my bedroom! lucky, eh? ) has obviously entered through the not-so-wide-open-window and it will be hard for him to find the way out. But! If I just go and open the OTHER window VERY WIDE he will get out without any problems!
He didn't like my interference though. As soon as I stood up he chirruped angrily and with a sweeping turn around the room flew straight towards the glass of the window!!!
Turning a bit left in the last moment to find himself out.
Well, I thought, it was a good think I haven't washed the windows for soooo long - even the bird could see where the glass was and avoid the crash...
Nice way to wake up, eh?

Day for reading
Posted Jul 16, 2005
Hmmmmm...
Been queuing for "Harry Potter and the half blood prince" till 2 a. m. Went to bed at 3 after reading the first chapter. Today woke up, eager to continue. Made a pot of coffee and even bought a cake to go with the book! And the day is perfect for reading - rainy and cloudy. But soooo sleepy...
Getting hold of the book as soon as released wasn't that good idea after all! If I had had a good night sleep and went to buy the book in the morning I would have been in a much better reading mood...
Hard to keep the eyes open now...

The sock club
Posted Jun 30, 2005
Well, I just heard this story from a colleague in the office. It's amazing how often she has fun stories like that! Happening to her or her relatives! Sometimes it makes me wonder if she is not simply making them up!
Anyway. This last thing that happened to her started with a phone call. You know, one of those annoying people advertising things and asking you to buy or invest. So there was this guy asking her ... if she wants free socks! She said no. But he kept on talking and trying to persuade her. The last drop was when he told her that she needn't worry because the socks weren't Dangerous. She thought that was very funny and finally agreed to get the free socks. So they came - three pairs of perfectly good socks.
But then, every half a year three new pairs arrived. Together with a bill. She has obviously joined a sock club - by X number of our product and you'll get Y number for free.
She paid the bill and in half a year the new delivery came...
But today she was honestly upset! She got the new batch of sock and they were HORRIBLE! One of them had an ugly drawing of kitten with a glittery letters saying I AM CUTE
NOW she said, she is going to cancel
