who is flyguy (and who cares ?)
Hi. I'm flyguy. I used my name for my first internet id and found that anonymity allows wider horizons in a venture like this. So when I switched ISP's, I chose flyguy, as I am a student pilot. Perhaps it's middle-age crisis, but 3 years ago I took up scuba, and last year flying lessons. (what goes down must come up ?) Or possibly it's just finally being able to afford it !This picture is almost 40 years old, so if you see me on the street, you may not recognize me (unless I'm wearing the burnoose).
Stats:
Canadian (Toronto), married 30.2 years (seems to be working out), 2 kids (one of each, both in university (he's 6'8" (that's 2m+), she's normal)), 7 years in Cdn Army as electronics technician (Canada, Middle East, Germany), 28 years programming with large computer company, now retired and contracting (double-dipper).
Interests:
People, challenges, travel (arriving, not the moving part), cooking (the eating part), woodworking (Mission style reproductions in quarter-sawn oak), sailing (Mirror Dinghy # 20749), geneology (father born in Scotland, would like to return and trace the family tree - mother's side complete), noticing the scale of time change as your kids grow.
Hopeful contribution to h2g2:
Perspective. The earth supports six billion personal circles of appetite, aspiration, achievement, growth, death and disillusionment. Where the circles overlap, a current is created. This is the force of life. As I approach the downhill stretch, I find myself looking back more than forward and sometimes discovering answers to questions not asked.
Humour (British spelling). This site like most others has its FAQ section. Based on the above, what would we then call the section for the unasked questions ?
