smiley - cuddles!!

Hey smiley - smileysmiley - smooch Long time no talk, stranger. Things haven't changed too much here, and I'm guessing the same on your end? We're both creatures of habit, methinks.

I'm looking after an Indian Ringneck at the moment - he's been left in an aviary since he was hand-reared, and he keeps picking at his wing. It's been an open wound for two years. Every time he's left alone he picks at it, so now I look after him all the time. I'm thinking about buying him, but he's the grumpiest bird I've ever met. When I first started getting him out of his cage he fought beak and claw, left me so many bruises and cuts I couldn't even keep count. He's so much better now, but he still won't play like he should. It's really sad - he's such an intelligent bird, he should play, but he's just so distressed.

I also bought two rats a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking of breeding them because our store never has enough, but I'm sort of against breeding since there are so many unwanted animals in the world. Anyway, they're cute, they're called Amy and Abby, and Friday *loves* them.

I met my old boss in the store today, she's nine months pregnant, and about to pop. Work's been pretty good, except last week I got into trouble for asking about pay - cos of the economy everyone's in trouble, and the shop isn't making as much as it used to. Anyway, I've been working on their website on my days off, and they said they'd pay me. When they didn't I asked about it, and apparently they said they'd 'look into' paying me. I honestly can't remember the exact wording, but I'm sure we both think we're in the right. It all blew over though, so never mind smiley - winkeye

How's things with you? smiley - smiley

Hi sweetie! smiley - hugsmiley - smooch

Glad to hear you're doing well - you sound very up, too. smiley - smiley

Sad that that bird's neurotic, but from what you're telling I might have to start calling you the Bird Whisperer soon... smiley - winkeye

And I sure hope Friday doesn't love your rats too much... smiley - winkeye

I'm fine, thanks - nothing very eventful happening right now (and yes, that's not displeasing me. smiley - smiley)

Sorry to be a bit short - in the studio now, and the keyboard there is quite small, so typing is even more typo-prone than usual...

'Talk' to you some more soon, I hope! smiley - hugsmiley - smooch

I am pretty 'up' actually. Not by anyone else's standards, but miles higher than I used to be smiley - smiley

I'm tired today, bought some shelves to organise the mess I call the garage, but it took most of the afternoon to put them together, so not much else has been done. I have tomorrow off, and I should finish it, but I'm thinking of playing xbox instead smiley - winkeye

My rats are so cute. I just took them for a walk to the liquor store, then gave them a bath - it sounds weird, but it's a really good idea to keep them healthy, cos their coats get dusty and when they groom they breathe it in, causing respiratory problems. The walk to the liquor store was just cos I didn't want to put them back in their cage. The people there may have thought I was odd.

Dunno if I told you, but I've been given permission by my boss to dye my hair (all one inch of it) so it's been rotating between hot pink, blue and green. It's blue at the moment. I also got a new tattoo, which has been itching me today, so I had my sleeve up. The people there may have thought I was odd. smiley - winkeye

Hang on, I've got a picture (off the tatt, not the hair)

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4461480&id=753932685

I know it's cliche, but that's the idea smiley - winkeye I really wanted an old school, proper tattoo, and I love it smiley - laugh

I was gonna put up a pic of my rats but I can't get it to work. I'll try again later.

Anyway, got to get onto dinner - my flatmate's starving and I've been stuffing round with with my computer and watching Top Gear.

Talk to you later smiley - smoochsmiley - hug

(People already call me the bird whisperer smiley - winkeye)

Hi sweetie

Sorry I haven't replied sooner - I usually get here *very* early in the morning; about the last thing I do before going to bed. And that's not always beneficial to writing... smiley - winkeye

Nice tattoo - and I'm glad you're enjoying those rats. Clever animals are always fun smiley - smiley

Nothing much going on here, I'm afraid - just the usual stuff, work and relaxation. smiley - winkeye It's finally become summer though - would you believe that a few days ago I still had to have the heating on at night? And it's supposed to be the heart of summer... smiley - winkeye

Off now smiley - zzz - take care! smiley - hugsmiley - smooch

Hey smiley - smiley

Work was interesting today - we got broken into last night, so cops all over the place, broken window and cash registers, lots of mess to clean up. They didn't steal much besides loose change (including a charity collection for guide dogs smiley - grr). They didn't hurt the animals either, which was good of them.

So it's been a long day. Not much else to report smiley - winkeye

One of my rats went on heat last night, it was so funny - I rub her back and she vibrates, and her ears wiggle so fast they're blurs smiley - laugh

I'd probably think of more to tell you, but I'm sleepy.

You tell me something vaguely interesting.

Glad the animals are okay. smiley - smiley Hope the damage to the shop isn't too great. smiley - hug

smiley - yikes Do I have to be *interesting* now? Oh dear... smiley - winkeye

Only thing I can think of off the cuff is that I'm doing the 750th episode of my radio show right now... smiley - winkeye

Hope you've slept well! smiley - hugsmiley - smooch

Nothing a day of cleaning couldn't fix. And it gave us something to do on a normally slow Monday smiley - smiley The cops were cool, cute redhead bought a cat toy and another bought a cat.

Yep. You have to be interesting. But my standard of interesting is very low. Tell me something random about the city, chances are it'll be exotic and awesome to me.

Ooh, that's a lot of weeks. Your brand of music is growing on me, I like almost all of the songs you've sent to me over the years.

Might be going up the coast tomorrow, but if I don't I'll talk to you soon smiley - smiley

Good thing I;m feeling forgiving today. Updates: looking for new job again, this time cos I'm only getting 7 hours a week, which doesn't even pay rent. Had three interviews over last two weeks, so hopefully I'll get an actual offer soon. I'm also looking for a car, which is exciting ... my first car smiley - smiley

Bought a plush glyptodon which I've named Gary.

Finally got my car last week - I won't bore you with the details about how hard it's been to get it.

Came online quickly to tell you that I've applied to do a teaching degree, so hopefully this time next year I'll be pretty close to being a high school history teacher smiley - yikes

Yeah, but they're not fluffy ...

Hoping to work in rural Australia, that way I'll get to play with lots of animals smiley - winkeye Also get good experience and hopefully my first choice of location, since most people would prefer the cities. Only problem is my mum, I don't feel comfortable leaving her in Brisbane by herself. My brother got into the airforce, so he's not going to be around, so I'd have to take her with me. Sounds silly, put like that, but she's still pretty depressed and I don't like to leave her alone.

My flatmate's watching a Harry Potter movie, and I don't really want to watch it. It's a later film, Goblet of Fire I think, but I don't really like any of them, they ruin the books. I'm listening to music on my headphoens instead, "Somebody's Gonna Love You" by Alice Russell keeps coming up, I think that's one of yours that's grown on me. Got one of my rats on my lap (did I tell you about my rats? I built a big habitat for them, and cut my hand pretty bad with a stanley knife, had to get stitches, now I've got a really cool scar). I took in another rat, she's got either mental or physical issues that cause her head to sit at an angle and she tends to walk in circles. My two seem to like her, no major issues yet anyway. They've all gotten really friendly. Amy is an alkie, I can't have a glass of wine around without her dipping her head in. Like mother, like rat, I guess smiley - winkeye Abby keeps escaping her house and climbing into the clothes hamper, she's chewed up a towel and a sheet, both owned by my flatmate, so that sucks. Zoe (she's the retarded one) goes into one of those hamster balls and can't make it roll straight, it's hilarious to watch. I'm a bad person smiley - winkeye Ugh, Abby's trying to eat the cord of my headphones.

Anyway. Just babbling a bit now, feel free not to read any of the above smiley - winkeye Nothing much happened anyway.

Always enjoy reading your babbling. smiley - winkeye

That rat habitat sounds like a cool thing. smiley - smiley (And yes, I think I sent you that Alice Russell track - great singer, isn't she? smiley - smiley)

Sorry to hear your mum's still not doing well. Have you asked her what she wants to do? She used to work with animals, didn't she? Maybe she can set up shop where you're going? smiley - smiley

Bit short in replying, but it's 'late' (or early, for more conventionally-timed people... smiley - winkeye) Take care, sweetie! smiley - hugsmiley - smooch
