Marshmallow Peeps
Have you ever eaten a fluffy, sugary, lovable marshmallow bunny around easter time? They are quite good if you ask me. Their pink sugar coating is quite adorable, and their eyes stare sorrowfully at you each time you pop one into your mouth. They come in packages wrapped in plastic, and you must pull them apart from their buddies when you want to eat one... How sad. Their taste is delectable, having a creamy sugary texture that many love. They are very fluffy too, about 70% air. For Easter, JustBorn, the manufacturer, also retails chicks, which are also well known and the most popular type of Peep. The bunnies come in lavender, light blue, and pink. During the Halloween season, the marshmallow peeps come in pumpkins with cute grins and eyes, ghosts, and blackish-purple cats. During Christmas, they have snowmen, trees, and gingerbread men. For Valentine's Day, they have pink hearts without any design on them.
As you might have guessed, marshmallow peeps are not the healthiest food in the world. They consist mainly of sugar, corn syrup, and gelatin, and a few other artificial flavors and preservatives. They contain no fat, no cholestreol, but a high amount of sugar and carbohydrates. Maybe they might be a good energy food. I'll have to try it with water so it will be easier to digest before my morning run.
Peeps are also good in hot chocolate. The only sad thing is that you see their cute faces slowly melt away into a glob. They melt and add sugar to your cocoa, and they make it a little creamier too.
It takes six minutes to complete one of these cute candies. Peeps' eyes used to be hand painted on, but now the are put on by machines at the rate of 3,700 per minute.
