Jack is doing really well. He recently went to the dentist - for the first time in his life, as it turns out! His teeth were really bad - she let me have a feel and I almost cut myself. No wonder he's been grumpy, biting his own tongue constantly.

I know he's the right horse for me because I was talking to my riding teacher (a lovely Englishwoman in her 60s) about training him up for jousting, and she said "oh good - I was afraid you wanted to do something normal with him. That horse is a bit of an oddity".

He sounds like a good match for you, Mala. Let me know how his training is going. Better yet ---these process things are interesting to readers. If you feel up to it, send a few words every other week or so to let us know about Jack's progress as a charger! Do you have to wear full armor for jousting?

Not sure would be interested. We have very few horsey people on this site...

I'm not planning to do "proper" jousting just yet, only mounted games where you charge at targets. So armour adds to the look, but the only thing I really have to work on is disguising a modern riding helmet as a historic helm of some sort - I wouldn't want to ride without one, just in case!

How's life with you? Any joy on the job hunt?

One possibility on job front ---I'll have to work the grave yard shift ---but work is work----I realized that I had my best paying jobs when I was young and foolish and now that I'm a senior I won't even be able to make what I did at my first job. Maybe the minimum wage law will go up.
