You fight like a dairy farmer!

I am ing like a loon at the news that Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty , is to return: http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland/faq
And I couldn't be more pleased at the studio that's doing it. Telltale's Sam & Max games are fantastic (if you don't believe me try the free download of Abe Lincoln Must Die!), and it looks like they're ramping up the complexity and making a full-on, old school adventure epice which just happens to be released in five episodes. I realise I completely forgot to mention the remake of the original that LucasArts are doing themselves. Hopefully with two games (or one game and one series of games) coming out they can get some decent publicity for it.

Really? That's more interesting. I don't know if a remake would work though; the game is a puzzle game and just rejigging the graphics wouldn't be enough. They may as well create a whole new game.

Is this a movie or a video game?

Game. A classic adventure game to be precise. Gave the world insult sword fighting and a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle.
I think they're calling it a "re-imagining" rather than a remake, but the screenshots I've seen are basically the original scenes with modern graphics.

It's a vitally important pirate skill. When you're fighting another pirate and there's a natural break in the fight, and the other pirate says, "You fight like a dairy farmer!" you'd better respond, "How appropriate, you fight like a cow!"

Tales yes, remake no.
By the way, I found The Golden Torc. Oxfam Books Headingley. Will probably read it soon.

Golden Torc? Is that by Julian May?

Yes. I lent Bagpuss the first book a little while back to see if he liked them.
I'm impressed you spotted that.

There's only one library in my network that owns that. Is it any good? I might try to borrow it and read it.

Personally I own two sets- a reading set and a lending set, in case my lendee can't get the books back before I want to read them again. There's technically three sets - the Saga of the Exiles [four books], Intervention [two books that are printed together] and the Galactic Mileu Trilogy [three books].
I can never decide which I like best. It's usually whichever I read the most recently!

Yeah, I'll give you the book back next time I'm in Shrewsbury. Admittedly I've never been to Shrewsbury, but that doesn't mean it'll never happen.

Well, if I try to organise a meet up, would you consider it? Bald Bloke suggested it at the last Birmingham meet and I think it might work as long as I have something for people to travel *for*.
