Just feeling a little perverse. 'Sides Hogmanay is so much better than most New Year's celebrations. That's why the Scots get two days off work to recover.

Hmmm. If you ask me they just have to show off. For ages Scotland had New Year's Day off, but England didn't, then when we got a holiday, the Scots had to have two. Just to prove how great their parties are. That said, they are generally acknowledged as having the best.
