Oh dear *curious* what is your job? - have you told me that already I can't remember?
I've been on msn the last couple of days on and ff but we seem to keep missing each other.
<< I think you have to practice what you preach (to use a cliche)...or rather practice what to go to listen to someone else preach...if that makes sense>>
I think someone put it rather aptly the other day- I think it was on the forum on here- but I can't find the post now. They were talking about what their wife thought about religion... anyway, the bit that rang true with me was when they said, that she beleived that God was inside her and she didn't have to go to church to find him.
I think that idea in a way sums up most of it.
Also dunno if you'll find this interesting, but I thought you might like this-F135418(you don't have to read it if you don't want to though!)
<>
Yes I know.
The secondary school I used to go to, was waay to competative. Houses existed for two reasons there, it seems, as a way to organise all the students into groups (which is understandable) and to give us ready made groups which we could support in the many extra curricular non-compulsary-but-you're still-expected-to-take-part-in competitions an games. There was no school spirit- just a bunch of people sticking their tounges out at each other and saying 'mine's better than yours'. And that includes the teachers, they encouraged it.
As you can probaby tell I didn't like it there very much. For starters I didn't approve of the attitudes they were trying to pass on to their students.Meh I'm not even sure half there got that there are more important things in life and other ways of doing things, than achivements and slagging people off.
<>
I think soo... for me I think that it's less about competition and more about how there seem to be things people expect you to say or do, and you feel that if you say/do something different they'll look a you funny and... I dunno.. think less of you?
<>
Not at all..
<>
Well acording to a BBC radio station it was national naturist day a couple of weeks ago I, wonder if it's anything to do with that....
It's not something you see every day is it?
What do I think of it-
I dunno really, I can already imagine how shocked some people would be, but I don't think it'd bother me too much, I like to think it'd just be a novel experiance for that day.
<>
I know what you mean. The other day I was watching an advert formoistureiser on tv and I was musing what an odd shape us humans really are. In a good way. I guess we don't usually come across properly naked people very often either, so you don't get reminded just how varied the shapes and sizes we come in are, as much. Interesting...
Also silly how whenever we talk about naked people we feel the need to clarify that it was nothing errotic, before someone makes a snide comment or something. Hmmm... If you think abouut it being naked is our nayural state, after all.*Is suddenly randomly reminded of Deanna Troy's mother's wedding.*
<>
I think your reaction was rather cool, sounds like you were open minded enough not to be offended automatically, but at the same time in touch with society enough to feel the effects of other people's opinions.
Seems to me that western society, these days at least we have enough suggestiveness around - with dancers in music videos and stuff that we need to frown on nudity in public because it draws a line about some things not being appropriate in public. How does that sound to you?
Just listened to a song called sunblock, have you heard of it?

We have been missing eachother on MSN!! I come home from work and see you said Hi and I'm so sad that you're gone! I work all week from 10-4... I get friday off though I should be here then!
I havent told you about my job yet... So dont worry
My job is at a very cool place, or at least I think its really cool.... But I'm going to wait to tell you about it on MSN. It gives us something to talk about....and to the best of my knowledge its the only one like it in Canada, so it would totally give away where I live.... Which you're not really supposed to do on a public forum thingy.
"she beleived that God was inside her and she didn't have to go to church to find him."
Thats it exactly! I agree
"The secondary school I used to go to, was waay to competative. Houses existed for two reasons there..."
Woah! You went to a school that actually had houses!? I've never gone to a school like that.... I'm not even sure I know of any schools like that in Canada. I've always been a public school girl. I have to admit that I've been very fortunate.... For the most part I went through school with a pretty good group of kids
I didnt like all of the, and some of them were real idiots.... But compared to other grades I didnt have it too bad.
<>
"I think soo... for me I think that it's less about competition and more about how there seem to be things people expect you to say or do, and you feel that if you say/do something different they'll look a you funny and... I dunno.. think less of you?"
That makes sense too..... Mostly for me I think its what I said, but what you said is definately a factor. I know thats one of my weaknesses.... I really have to work on not caring so much about what other people think
"I dunno really, I can already imagine how shocked some people would be, but I don't think it'd bother me too much, I like to think it'd just be a novel experiance for that day. "
Yeah, thats a good way to put it. Its not something you see every day, it makes for something a little interesting.
"I know what you mean. The other day I was watching an advert formoistureiser on tv and I was musing what an odd shape us humans really are. In a good way. I guess we don't usually come across properly naked people very often either, so you don't get reminded just how varied the shapes and sizes we come in are, as much. Interesting..."
Yes... We truely do come in all shapes and sizes... and one thing that I really really hate about our society is that its only acceptable to be one shape and size.... You know what I mean? The typical model look. I HATE it!!!! I wish everyone would just be comfortable being themselves, and that something that I really liked about seeing all of those nude bikers... Alot of them didnt conform to the typical standard of beauty, but they were comfortable doing it anyway. I noticed that alot of the people I was with made comments about that... they said the people who do that kind of thing are the kind that you dont want to see naked. To me that seems to be a very narrow way of looking at it... Looking at it that way seems to me to say that being naked is only for erotic purposes... You know what I mean? I dont think it should have to be that way. I'm not suggesting that we all go nude though
I like what you said... Thats the way we naturally are
"I think your reaction was rather cool, sounds like you were open minded enough not to be offended automatically, but at the same time in touch with society enough to feel the effects of other people's opinions."
Thank you I consider that quite a compliment
Personally thats the way I want to be.... I think its important to be aware of the people in society and the way most of them would react. Too many people are "different" by stepping on other peoples toes... I'd rahter not do it that way.... You know?
I've never heard that song Who's it by?
I'm going to have a nice bubble bath and read a Star Trek!
By the way.... I've always loved Lwaxana(Sp?) Troy! I think shes a wonderful character... Theres alot to be learned from her.
Did you know shes the same one who played Christine Chapel in TOS? Apparently shes the voice of the computer as well!
Off for my bath now
Alli

Oh no it was a public school! It just has houses too. come to think of it I think most/all of the secondary schools around here have houses.*shrug* I don't know why they do it that way, maybe to manage the numbers?
<>
I think I generally feel the same way, especially about primary school. Secendary school definitely had more idiots though!
<>
Yah, you and me both!
<>
Yeah, I can get really bogged down and fed up sometimes when it feels as though the world is full of people with such a limited perspective- married couples who wish their spouses looked more like the ideal stereo types, hordes of (possibly otherwise nice, sensible, interesting) teenagers who think just getting drunk is a fun thing to do at the weekend, teenage girls who think shopping, boys and the colour pink is what their lives should be all about.
(there's a wider range of examples but I'm a little tired so I'll leave it there before I rant.)
Really, society aside... the world is full of loads of different people with may different and varied veiws on the subject (nudity) as with all subjects Some of whom struggle to understand other people's feelings on the subject, I suppose either because that person hasn't thought about it enough/at all? or because they haven't been shown other people's veiws enough, or for some other reason- (that's what really frustrates me, people who can't understand that someone might think something different than them and have a valed point.) ... *ahem* and some of whom are admirably at ease with themselves and embrace everyone's similaritys and differences as what makes them so special and unique. It's just that you can get so swamped with society's ideas that it feels as though there aren't many people like that out there, sometimes.
<>
No no no, it does Not have to be that way!
As with jokes or comments that could be costrued (sp?) as something erotic. It's that dratted Society again, or something like it, teaching us as we grow up to pick up specificly on anything that might be meant in an errotic way and to focus on it and be very embarrased.
As for peple making comments about that, I think they're missing th point. If this was a naturist thing, it wasn't about how they looked naked, it was about the fact that they *were* naked. And that they were confident enough to do it in public, which I have to admire when i think how much trouble *I'd* have to do that in public.*shrug*
<>
Yeah I think so.
<>
Sunscreen? I forget it's full name, but it was originally writen by a woman journalis as an article, she wrote out the good advice she'd give to modern kids if she could, and someone thought it was so good and uplifting that it aught to be made into a song, or something. So they did, no 1 on her list was wear sunscreen. I have to say I agree.
<>
Honestly I don't remember a huge amount about her..aside from her wedding and a few things. I heard the voice of the computer was done by Gene Rodenberry's wife?
Hope you enjoyed your bath.
Off to bed soon.

Hi!!
Thanks for the recipe That was really thoughtful of you! Unfortunately I cant eat Lasagne anymore..... The noodle is made of wheat flour
Now.... I owe you a reply.... So let me see now.....
Maybe they create houses at school so that students have some feeling of belonging and maybe they mean to bring everyone together...Not necessarily seperate them...Or maybe its so they can have team sports events that matter to the kids at school... Or something....
Maybe secondary school has more idiots in it because people are more likely to be into drinking, drugs, and partying? Just a thought.... Although those things definately dont make someone an idiot.
<>
"Yah, you and me both!"
Alright then.... Lets make a pact that we'll try and we can try together and be here for moral support
"Yeah, I can get really bogged down and fed up sometimes when it feels as though the world is full of people with such a limited perspective"
Definately. And I hate shows like What not to wear and The Swan. I once wrote an english paper about how much I hate The Swan. Alot of people make comments about how hideous someones outfit is.... Sometimes I do but I only mean I wouldnt want to wear it, not that I think they shouldnt If that makes sense.
"that's what really frustrates me, people who can't understand that someone might think something different than them and have a valed point."
Yes! I agree entirely. Annother think that really bothers me is people who cant argue properly.... I mean speciffically people who for example argue the existance of God using the bible as proof.... If you dont believe in God odds are you're not going to take the bible as evidence.... And people who cant make any kind of arguement without having to drag religon into it. Sometimes its ok, but it usually drives me crazy...Maybe just because my mom does it all the time and I feel like we cant have any kind of intelligent debate
"As with jokes or comments that could be costrued (sp?) as something erotic. It's that dratted Society again, or something like it, teaching us as we grow up to pick up specificly on anything that might be meant in an errotic way and to focus on it and be very embarrased."
I know what you mean.... But at the same time I still love to watch Are you being served? Which is full of jokes that are funny because you can take them to have that kind of meaning...... And I also have to admit that when someone says something I sort of have to pause and ask myself how I'm supposed to take it.
"I heard the voice of the computer was done by Gene Rodenberry's wife?"
Yep that was her...Same person...Apparently Gene Rodenberry had an affair with Uhura
Talk to you again soon

And I know what you mean.... Its very odd to see yourself sign your real name here.

Phew ! our posts are getting long.
<<The noodle is made of wheat flour
Can you not get wheat free ones from some shops? I thought you could.
<<Maybe they create houses at school so that students have some feeling of belonging and maybe they mean to bring everyone together...Not necessarily seperate them...Or maybe its so they can have team sports events that matter to the kids at school... Or something....
Quite possibly. In fact I think I remember some speech once about how houses were there so you didn't feel lost in a big school, to give you somewhere to belong..all depends how it's set up and run I suppose, and what the people are like.
<<Maybe secondary school has more idiots in it because people are more likely to be into drinking, drugs, and partying? Just a thought.... Although those things definately dont make someone an idiot.
No. But they can be part of more idiotic decitions, or so I think at least. I do think teenagers tend to be sillyer then younger kids and some older adults, don't know why..
<<Alright then.... Lets make a pact that we'll try and we can try together and be here for moral support
That sounds like a wonderful idea.
I might find it harder then normal at the moment, though. My self-esteem's a little low.
<<Annother think that really bothers me is people who cant argue properly.......Maybe just because my mom does it all the time and I feel like we cant have any kind of intelligent debate
Awww . Yes those kinds of conversations can be annoying.I suppose at that point I'd generally try to gently challenge their beleifes.
<<But at the same time I still love to watch Are you being served? Which is full of jokes that are funny because you can take them to have that kind of meaning...... And I also have to admit that when someone says something I sort of have to pause and ask myself how I'm supposed to take it.
Oh yes, it happens and sometimes the jokes are funny, it's that pepople use those kinds of jokes so *often* starts not to seem so clever. It almost becomes a default reaction whenever someone says something that might be misunderstood in some way, I find that can get in the way of talking to some people because you have to be careful how you say things. Then I find it annoying.

"Phew ! our posts are getting long."
They certainly are!!! I'm starting to put them off because I want to be sure that I have enough time to do it!
"Can you not get wheat free ones from some shops? I thought you could."
They have vegatable or corn based I think...But I've never seen lasagna noodles like that.
"But they can be part of more idiotic decitions, or so I think at least. I do think teenagers tend to be sillyer then younger kids and some older adults, don't know why."
I think it may be because teenagers are so busy rebeling agaist their parents and authority that they dont think about the consequences...maybe.
"I might find it harder then normal at the moment, though. My self-esteem's a little low. "
Awww... Are you alright? I havent talked to you in a while. Is there anything I can do to help? You know I'm always here to talk.... If I'm not on MSN you can always drop me an email or something
"Awww . Yes those kinds of conversations can be annoying.I suppose at that point I'd generally try to gently challenge their beleifes. "
Thats a good idea.... And would work rather well if I wasnt supposed to be of the same religon
"it's that pepople use those kinds of jokes so *often* starts not to seem so clever. Yeah, that is annoying. Oh my goodness! Yesterday at work this girl I really dont like was talking to me and two other people I work with and she made some kind of joke about the size of one of the peoples penis, saying it was small or something, and it was really awcward but she didn't seem to notice...and then she must have realized a little but made it worse by saying that he was about to get married so it must not be too small or something..... And earlier that day she was making two plastic animals from the giftshop makeout..... I couldnt believe it! It totally wasnt funny, but she thought it was the funniest thing in the world
Talk to you soon I hope

Yes, I put off posting untill I have time to do it properly too. As you can tell. Wejust have too much to say..
<> Could be, and busy experimentin and stuff. I've never really found a porper explanation, to me, for the impared judgement. Hormones ...?
<>
Hmmm, yes. I am alright, just so long as I keep track of my needs and keep everything topped up.Otherwise I'm prone to mood swings and bouts of a silly self-defeating depressed mentality. Which is silly. and I know it's silly. And I know how to be ok, which is good. and , I'm rambling now..sorry.
It's ok, but mum keeps saying she doesn't feel like a good mum, which is silly, she's a lovely mum.
I keep seeming to forget that I have just as much right to exist as anyone else. Which is also silly. Humans, what're we going to do with them, ay?
Thanks for the offer with the e-mails though, I may take you up on that sometime. You're always good to talk to.
<>
I'm sure, in that case, there's some tactful way of starting a peaceful debate, but I'm equally sure it'd take me a lot of trial an erroe to work out what that was!
Have you hered of a thing called runescape? I just spent almost all day on it with my sister.
Hope I catch you online again soon.

Hi Peace!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who leaves it untill theres time to reply. We do have alot to say to eachother
"I've never really found a porper explanation, to me, for the impared judgement. Hormones ...?"
I think its that combined with alot of things... Wanting to prove themselves, trying to be cool and impress their friends, trying to see how far they can go before they get caught, etc.
"Hmmm, yes. I am alright, just so long as I keep track of my needs and keep everything topped up.Otherwise I'm prone to mood swings and bouts of a silly self-defeating depressed mentality. Which is silly. and I know it's silly. And I know how to be ok, which is good. and , I'm rambling now..sorry."
Good. Be sure you always look after you I sometimes forget about myself as well. I find it a strange feeling to know that the mood your in is silly but still not be able to get out of it. Sometimes that bad mood just sticks like crazy glue!!!
"It's ok, but mum keeps saying she doesn't feel like a good mum, which is silly, she's a lovely mum."
My mum does that sometimes too. I dont know why. Despite the fact that my mom drives me crazy alot of the time and we can rarely have a civil conversation for long... I love her very much at the same time.
"I keep seeming to forget that I have just as much right to exist as anyone else. Which is also silly. Humans, what're we going to do with them, ay?"
Funny you should say that... I have the same problem quite alot. When someone is not polite to me at work I feel like they dont have the right to exist...And I feel the same way about other people for other reasons (like my neighbour who plays rap when I'm trying to sleep).
Lately I've been listening to The ScrewTape Letters written by C.S. Lewis (the man who wrote The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe") and read by John Cleese. I think you might like them. I'm really really enjoying it! I'm listening to it for the second time now. It's a series of letters written by a devil (under secretary for the department of tormentors) to his nephew (junior temptor) with advise as to how to properly tempt and corrupt the human that the nephew has been assigned. They're a good laugh and they have a lot of facinating insights into human nature.
"Thanks for the offer with the e-mails though, I may take you up on that sometime. You're always good to talk to."
Anytime Peace, I really mean it. No problem is ever to small... Or whatever. If you even just need to talk. And thank you, I'm glad you think I'm good to talk to. You are too. Sometimes I feel like I just need to talk but theres never anyone to talk to. My family always says the wrong things when I try to tell them something. You always seem to say the right thing
"Have you hered of a thing called runescape? I just spent almost all day on it with my sister. "
I've heard of it.... I have no idea what it is though. Would you enlighten me?
I hope I get to see you on MSN sometime soon! I never see you there anymore!

Hi
<>
Yees, I never really got why that happens, it sorta makes no sense to me.
<>
Hmmm indeed. Let us fight it with good things like flowers and good friends and chocolate.
Ahem.. sorry in a funny mood tonight.
<>
Hmmm C.S.Lewis and John Cleese you say, well it sounds interesting, I'll have to look into it a little.
I do like C.S.Lewis, I got the Cronicles of Narnia for christmas some years ago, huge great book, I've always loved them since.Plus I saw a reallly good documentry on his life once.. very interesting.
<>
Oh Thanks! Yeah, I find it helps just to know someone understands, and we seem to understand where the other is coming from, which I like.
Runescape- it's an online Role Playing Game, not the forum kind though, the video game type. You have a player- a little person to represent you, (you get to choose what they look like) and you wander around the computer generated world of runescape doing quests and things. It's like a computer game, but online with loads of other people. The graphics aren't great, but it's quite intereting, a bit of fun at least. You can get accounts for free, but you have more priviliges if you play. My sister introduced me to it, and we were mucking around there together for the best parts of a couple of days.
I've just finished a great book. Maybe I'll tell you about it if I catch you on msn. Sorry haven't been around as much lately.

"Hmmm indeed. Let us fight it with good things like flowers and good friends and chocolate."
Very good idea I'm not feeling well so I'll skip on the chocolate for now....But everything else is perfect.
"I do like C.S.Lewis, I got the Cronicles of Narnia for christmas some years ago, huge great book, I've always loved them since.Plus I saw a reallly good documentry on his life once.. very interesting."
I love Narnia. I think my mom first started reading them to me when I was home sick from school. They're so wonderful. I'm thinking of reading them again while I have the time.
"Oh Thanks! Yeah, I find it helps just to know someone understands, and we seem to understand where the other is coming from, which I like. "
Its true, good thing we have eachother. I sometimes find it hard to find someone who really seems to understand.
"I've just finished a great book. Maybe I'll tell you about it if I catch you on msn. Sorry haven't been around as much lately."
I'd love to hear all about it!! I just finished a good Star Trek book it was called Posessions and it was like a TNG sequel to a TOS book called The Vulcan Academy Murders. I have a big collection of Star Trek books. I cant get enough of them. I'm reading a good murder mystery at the moment.
I was feeling so sad last night... An empty feeling, like being pulled down into a deep dark hole with no way to climb out. I was fine today and now I'm feeling sad again. I'll be alright though. I just have to put on some different music. The stuff I'm listening to is music I havent listened to since I still had a best friend who I saw every day and when I was happy almost all the time. Oh well. Now I have more than one best friend, just no one lives here.
I'm watching The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe (the old version). Its really good and now that I've burned a CD for my dad I think I'll go back and finish watchihg it.
Just so you know for the next few days I'll be visiting my grandparents so I wont be around.

Oops...I just noticed, that thing about oceans 12 isnt supposed to be on the bottom of mine. I guess I forgot to delete it.
I found this quote in annother conversation. I thought it might interest you...
"Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today - but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all. "
-Isaac Asimov
Hey....I just had a thought... Do you read star trek books? I have a few that are duplicates and the book store I tried to take them too didnt seem to want them. Would you be interested in them by any chance?

Hmm, nice quote! Interesting to call it crucial to our survival. Although I guess I often think of sci fi as a playground, a place to explore all the what ifs...
<<I'm watching The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe (the old version). Its really good and now that I've burned a CD for my dad I think I'll go back and finish watchihg it.
Cool Is that the cartoon version?

Awww, yeah that must be tough. I hope your feeling happier now.

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Aug 29, 2006
Crutial to our survival. Somtimes I think I couldnt live without it. Its a way for me to escape. It reminds me of something I wrote to William Shattner in the letter I'll never send. I said that Star Trek, with everyone working together and getting along so well and the human race willing to help everyone who needs it without looking at how it profits them, gives me hope for our future. You know what I mean? I hope one day we're that good, that united. Not still fighting eachother. Willing to get on with science and exploration and stuff.
I am feeling much happier now Thanks Peace. Its been a long hard day at work but I'm happy. I guess I just havent had time to be sad yet. Also I'm feeling content with having wonderful best friends that dont live anywhere near me and who I've never met.
Last night I watched the 1973 version of Dracula and I've been in a good mood ever since. I'm going to read a star Trek book tonight
I can certainly send them. I have two Deep Space Nine books: Trial By Error and Emissary. One TNG: Doomsday World, and one TOS: Timewarp. Let me know which ones you want. The only problem is that the only way I could send them to you is by mail, so you'd have to be alright with that. And if you're not dont worry about it. I dont want you to feel pressured at all or anything. I will completley understand if you dont want to give me your address, I'm quite hesitant to give it out myself. I've only given it to 3 people so far, only one of them I regret doing, and not because anything bad happened
