Our very dear Gnomon is really not fluff -
He keeps himself busy, fills things up with stuff.
Not any ol' stuff, I hasten to add
Just the top notch stuff, and nothing bad.
This way he has spent nine ingenious years
Filled with much laughter, and also some tears.
Here's hoping for many more years filled with stuff
With lots of new entries - they're never enough.

Try as we might we just cannot hide
From what Gnomon has writ for the Edited Guide.
There's wildlife and literature, star constellations,
Musical works like Elgar's 'Variations',
Entries on Ireland and Turkey and Egypt,
And lots more on Greece (for this man is no eejit).
There's old hieroglyphics and weird alphabetics,
And plenty of ones on obscure mathematics,
But if I was forced to pick one of this pile,
I'd plump for the one on the humble sundial.

Next Wednesday I'll have been here 10 years.
It's good to see there's a few of us old timers still knocking about here.
