I don't think you offended Paff in PR to be honest, just made a scary number of suggestions!

You're being a grumpy old man again, G.
Give it 24 hours and then apply lashings of common sense and rose-tinted bifocals.

Hi gnomon,
hey, been there, done that, got the T shirt mate. I go through phases like that when you think, cripes can't do right for doing wrong!!
I looked at that thread in PR with Paff and I think, reading between the lines, Paff may have been a tad harsh in his response. Perhaps tiredness, misinterpretation had something to do with it. I've done same myself, sort of flew off the handle then realised I was a bit 'over the top'. We can all be guilty of it, it's human nature.
You are a valuable resource to HooToo, well respected, deservedly so. You write some darn good stuff as well as steer underlings like me in the right direction so my suggestion is, take a deep breath, count to 10 and move on.
PS. If all else fails I'll send the 3 sisters round to have words!!

Like it, ST. I think you have it just about right. Oil on troubled waters I hope Gnomon takes note. He is clever and much respected, if a tad touchy now and again, like we all get sometimes.

Gnomon, it's not you, really. You're one of the most considerate posters here, and I always miss it when you don't correct my entries. I appreciate your input, and I'm sure so does the majority of writers for the EG.
I think it must be the month, I always dread November, and I've been very low for most of last week - and so have many others.
Please, think about it and come back.

You're yet to offend me. Shirker!
You can't go till you've managed to offend me.
(You'll find it difficult.)

Funny how it happens like that. There are days when you (one) can't open your mouth without doing something wrong.

Hey Gnomon... The Black Dog is always lurking, and don't I know it!
There are researchers that HooToo would gladly lose, but you are not one of them.
I have detected, for a while, you having a certain 'exhaustion' with the site and, with all your other activities, this I can understand... Especially when you mentioned that you had run out of ideas for entries that interest you. That is fine.
However do not abandon the site, after all the BS and T you have put in... ( and !!!)
Take a rest, compose yourself (after all you music, but how do you compose yourself? ?)
Then return refreshed. I haven't always agreed with all your critiques, but most of the time your experience has been on the
And yes, the are just there to really you to show you are appreciated!!

These things happen from time to time, in part because this is text-based and it's hard to see exactly what people mean sometimes.
Please don't take a hanful of disagreements to mean that you're not appreciated, Gnomon. The site would be immeasurably poorer without you.

*nods emphatically*
Yes it would, and we would be immeasurably saddened
At the end of the day, this site is about the Guide, which rests solidly on your foundations, Gnomon, you and a few other giants.
Yes, it is also about the communtiy, but what it is not about is snappy growly irate situations ruining the experience for everyone. Please simmer quickly and get back on here. I am hoping to be able to come back into action some time next week (unless Life throws me another curve ball ) and I look forward to being challenged by your intellect. You are too deeply entrenched in the format of hootoo, Gnomon. Please come back soon.

Never was a truer word posted Gnomon. Please stick with us. We've probably all had experience of how frustration builds up sometimes and blinds us to the truth - it all starts to seem pointless.
Follow the advice ^^^^. Take a deep breath, count to 10; take a bit of a break if necessary and return refreshed.
Please???
