Hi

I am really smiley - sorry if the comment I made on Ivan's troll thread came at the wrong time. It really IS just an observation, not a judgement, but it is probably the sort of thing that should be said in a more private space.

smiley - sorry

PS - Peanut's just pointed out to me that a lot's been going on on site which I'm not subscribed to. In the last 24 hours I have only been following Ivan's troll thread and London's Burning.

I could try understatement. I like it.

Or I could be more normal., That is totally wonderfully brilliant and I'm soo happy to see that. Wow what a reaction from the community. And it looks beautiful.

Thank you so much for that.

They just said on radio 4 news that 'The wall of Love' in Peckham is to be put on display in the library..so I'll be on that next week..your link called it 'Peace Wall' I think..but its presumably the same thing.

My goodness it might help me to see that thing. my feelings about this area have taken such a battering. I'm surprised how strong the delayed reaction is.

But you get sort of flash backs of how it felt when suddenly all the air was filled with smoke..and the absolute endless wail of sirens..and seeing all your shops battoned down.

And the overwhelming sense that your fellows in the community are bent on its destruction. I mean how can you feel the same about it?

Anyway that's the special thing about that wall..it gives concrete expression to all the people who still love Peckham. I'm glad it has that name now.

Thanks for your post on the anarchy thread.

And every cloud has a silver lining.

Peckham has been re-born for me after being here. Man my heart sang amongst all that warm messiness of humanity. Ordinary decent conversation and laughter. Even the air was so clear and nice. And you could smile at someone without that being taken as anything other than a smile...and a nice thing to get.

I think that wall is amazing. Actually an art work. But real-real not arty-real.

Talking of art and walls, your photograph of your wall's stuck in my mind too. How did you do it?

I made plaster moulds of house bricks. Then filled them with liquid rubber. But in the centre of the rubber I inserted 'drawers' made from plaster with little handles attached. So I had rubber bricks to be used for building the wall.

When a layer of rubber bricks was ready. I could pull out the 'drawers' in the centre of each brick. This meant the brick could collapse and be pulled out.

Some people actually preferred the rubber bricks with plaster drawers in them as my art smiley - snork

I wouldn't have the patience. And it was so worth it.

What happened do it? Do you still have it?

I think it took around 6 months to make from digging of foundations to final completion.

Oh come on you're having the patience for your thesis yeah?

One has the patience when something is going towards the best grade for an academic qualification..(never mind it being art smiley - winkeye)

Doing fine art at Goldsmiths is very competitive. You'd have the patience.

Course it was worth it. To make the vision concrete. No longer there though. When I left the gardner pulled it down. 2 bushes at either end

Hey really thanks for explaining things on that thread about how the structures worked. I think my brain is starting to work a bit better now again which helps.

I coming back to earth from the mania mixed state thing. Which in some ways is always a bit hard..as certain heightened perceptions in some areas calm down..but in other ways more civilised.

Yeah its interesting the way each of us has different talents and brain function.

It bodes well for noohootoo to have a community of variety like that.

smiley - hug to you to.

I really do hope I can fit in..If my mood gets badly out of control again though I want noohootoo to section me for at least a week. Seriously. Not permanently. But I absolutely do not want to get into the same trouble again here.

Dr. Zen or anhaga can be in charge of that smiley - winkeye

Thats excellent news. It would make me feel safer as well. Because I wouldn't want to be hurting people, especially people I'd been friends with for years again, just because I'd lost 'insight' which is a typical symptom of mania.

I would interpret that as being looked after myself as well as for others. That's how I took my recent pre-mod..shame it didn't last longer smiley - laugh

Also much of the time here I've lived in fear of a permanent ban after that was once imposed..but then recinded thanks to Gif's intervention.

I hope also I might request it myself before things got too bad..but that might not happen I know. And I know its a bit of an inexact science..I have minor moodswings..but that major thing is quite different..Dr. Zen will know about that...paranoia is also a feature.

But I hope I'm not on a section every 5 minutes on noohootoo smiley - snork

But its reassuring as a preventative measure.

Thanks.

Hi Effers,

Keeping safe is important! We'll do our best to help you out, and we'll try and recognise when you need perhaps to take a step away from h2g2 for your own sake. I can't guarentee to always get it right - it's really difficult to get this sort of thing right when someone's in the same room as you, and even more difficult on the internet. But we'll do our best. smiley - cheers

Perhaps when you're feeling up to it we could talk sometime, in private, about how we can do this right.

The new mods are not the same as the old mods. I know the aim for the new mods is to protect the site and the people who use it, and if that means protecting someone from themself, then that's what it takes. There are discussions about how best to do all sorts of things that the BBC mods do now.

One of the things that we hope will make modding better is that the new mods are part of the site and know the situations and the context. The new mods will be able to see when someone's needling for the fun of it, even if their actual posts seem totally innocuous. It's also importand that the new Mods stand well back from threads they are involved in, topics they feel strongly about, and threads where they have "history" (good or bad smiley - wah) with one or more of the participants.

There's lots to get right and lots that could go wrong, but we're working as hard on this bit as Pastey and the tech guys are on the coding.

So the long and the short is that we will be looking out for you - of COURSE we will. We'll be looking out for everyone.

smiley - hug

Ben
