Just thought I'd pop by and say hello - and also invite you to visit (and maybe join?) my h2g2 friends photo gallery. Well, if you'd like to. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F119314?thread=421977 az

Hi az

Good to hear from you. To be honest I'm quite wary of revealing much about myself. Aside from saying I live in the UK. Even in real life I'm quite a private person. But thank you for the invitation.

smiley - ok

Yeah well, judging by your minimalist PS and very exclusive friends list, I reckoned you were probably the type of person who enjoys personal privacy and internet anonymity. But thought I'd ask just in case . . . smiley - smiley

Point taken! But it just seemed like he was wrecking the thread. I was trying to be funny - as one does! But yes I don't know enough about the context.....Thanks for the advice az! smiley - biggrin

Oh, quite fine to disagree with him, if you do, but the spelling thing isn't something he does on purpose. Okay?

How was he wrecking the thread?

Surely I'm wrecking it just as bad?

I sudenly got all precious about it because I'd started the thread and I thought it was going to descend into some SAMO SAMO thing about whether or not there is an afterlife, rather than people being honest about their feelings about the here and now, that we DO know about. Also I thought he was 'putting on' the spelling mistake stuff, and I do find it incredibly difficult to make sense of what someone is saying when it is littered with spelling mistakes. My spelling isn't always the best in the world, so I should be more tolerant.

Also Rev Nick's coment made me think that Bob was doing it on purpose. But then I know little about his history.

I think basically I just made a wrong assumption.

I was going to write some stuff here which would demonstrate my superior lunacy. But then I thought, no, that wouldn't be wise, because I'd run the risk of what happens in real life. People start interpreting your words through the prism of their prejudice. Not you, I think, but who knows, who maybe lurking?

It's a bit of a shame though, because I always enjoy winning this competiton. No-one's beaten me yet! smiley - laugh

No shit. The times I 'get into trouble' here on h2g2 is when this happens - though I'm happy to report that most people I deal with here are both intelligent and also have a sense of humour.

Hey, have you seen my new blog?

http://azahar.wordpress.com/

I started it up after that whole pronannity filter nonsense here. So while I still partake of conversations here on h2g2 I will no longer start journal entries on my PS, because I don't like the idea of being treated like an errant child - especially by people way younger than me.

Curiously, nobody has yet abused their 'freedom to swear' on my blog. Just once someone quoted something in context (with regards to a film) that included some 'naughty' words that never would have got by the nanny filter here. Otherwise people actually express themselves very well without having to resort to swearing. Which they also mostly did here.

Anyhow, pop by and say hello there if you'd like to. smiley - smiley
