So, four years till the next one . . . was it good for you?

Yes it was, it's always special, partly I think because it's only every 4 years. So many things in our society are instant and happen so often, we quickly tire of them.
The irony is that the great dramatic moment ocurred due to a totally unpredictable moment of madness from the great French player, Zinidine Zidane in his very last match. He's one of the all time greats, and has led France to trophies in the past. Everyone was hoping he'd score the winning goal near the end, (much too Hollywood, I reckon), but what did he do? Commit the most vicious headbut on an Italian, and be red carded 10 minutes from the end. For drama you couldn't make it up. Actually I think it's quite appropriate. This world cup will probably be remembered for the sneaky fouling and play acting of so many players. So what do we have? No hero, but a great footballing Anti Hero who commits a full fontal physical assault. No sneakiness or ambivalence about it.
It would make a great film!

Oh dear what's happened to h2g2? It all feels a bit homogenous and uninteresting. Is it because it's high summer? 'Ask' is suddenly so trivial. And posting is so slow.

Kinda sums it up, I reckon. Too much nannying by the BBC.
Did you see this?

I mean, why bother getting passionate about a debate subject when the censors will just come along and close the thread if they don't like what's being said?
I guess a quite a few people have gone away on holiday but I also know many people who have left and others, like me, who are only here 'part time' these days and spending more and more time on my blog.

That's completely pathetic and depressing. Think I'll start an 'Ask' on it!

Gwan, you're not really, are you? That would be pretty funny.

Yes it would. You're really wondering now I can tell!
So how would you feel if I said "Yes' or 'No'?
hey there, fellow troublemaker!
azahar Posted Jul 14, 2006
Oh no, I don't like being kept guessing at all! Makes me feel all weirdly insecure somehow (don't ask cos I can't explain it).

Well it makes me weirdly insecure that it's just so important to you. Can't you just accept me as 'Fanny', and relate to me according to my posts as 'Fanny'. Even if I said 'Yes' or 'No', I could be lying. This is the internet where identity is virtual. It's not like we've formed a RL relationship.
As you're so fond of saying. 'It's just a website'
I hope we won't fall out over this. But I'll understand if it upsets you too much.

Well, you could be, though I would choose to believe you. Hence, after that, if you had lied it would be your problem not mine.

Hey like the new look of your space. Not quite as minimalist as mine! but simple and too the point. I do quite like simple design!

azahar Posted Jul 26, 2006
Yeah, felt like a change. At first it was even more minimal - just one row of fish. But then it made sense to let people know where they could find me as I'm not participating here much anymore.

It's quite easy to ridicule someone like BB who is posting from his heart and with whatever knowledge, however limited, he has going for him at the time.
But he *is* always posting from his heart.
I've seen him do some rather strong 'turn-arounds' when spoken to clearly and with respect. Because he was able to learn something he hadn't known previously. And unlike some people here, he is not above admitting he was wrong and saying he had learned something that made him change his mind.
I like the guy. I think he is far more honest than many people here pretend to be.

You could be right. Sounds like you know BB much better than me.
I wasn't meaning to ridicule him, though maybe I did. But what he posted really irritated me. I guess none of us are perfect.
