Cherokee?

There's Aussies and Kiwis here too but they're hard to spot unless they're fighting with each other about who owns the bauxite mines. And they are a day ahead and online at very weird times of the day.
Anyway, as a Canadian, I wanted to explain (since most of these tight assed lime jammed crumpet toasties wouldn't bother) that 'chuffed' is like 'tickled pink','very pleased'. I wouldn't bother to explain it either but you said you were into Linguistics and I hate to see anyone wasting their money.
Be proud of your 'olive' skin. In fact come up with another word for it quick.
Peace.

Right. Ripe as an olive that's me to the pit! Thanks for the info on the chuff. If you have any suggestions on a better description than olive, oh well... the shade of make-up I bought today said it was the color of "Honey". Would that be alright honey? Should I just say I have honey colored skin? It does sound a bit more scrumptious.
And yes, these, English laddies and lassies are waking me up to a language I have neglected. I waded seriously through "Hamlet" over the holidays. There was some serious vocab rehab going on as I perused the footnotes. Thanks again. By the way, have you heard that little ditty, from some Broadway play called "Blame it on Canada", I rolled in the aisles when I saw it on the tele. It blames the corruption of the US's youth on Canada. It was rich. How's it going up there in the Great White North?

Oh yeah, that's right.... part Cherokee on my mother's side and plenty of Choctaw mixed in on both sides. But yes, most directly to the Cherokee tribe, my great great grandmother was one quarter Cherokee and is listed on the tribal register as "KameecheeOpeechee" if I recall my grandmother's telling correctly. She told me that KameecheeOpeechee was an Cherokee Indian Princess. My grandmother prized her Indian heritage and it shows strongly in my blood. My mother collects Indian artifacts, arrowheads and tools from a piece of property in Bush, Louisiana. It is the site of an old Choctaw mound most probably and she has had it registered as such with the state of Lousiana.

Honey! That's it! Right on!
Honour yourself and you honour the ancestors!
I wish I could say I had more than one/eight Indian blood. My great grandmother on my mothers side; (Algonquin) but this has been denied vehemently by the family for four generations.
My great grandmother on my father's side was a Gypsy or "romany' as they were called in the UK back then. Gypsy girls would marry local landowners and the band could live on the estate. If this bonding created a first born male heir for three generations the gypsies would steal the great grandchild and make him their king. They knew a thing or two about breeding. Sadly, the second generation are considered inferior and my grandfather left for Canada, where, thus far, I have been safe from my Coronation.

I bet it works for Native American Princesses too.

Thanks for the winding tale of gypsy folklore, how unique. I'm not much into breeding for the flock. Just lucky I came out good I guess. Now for that rewrite, in the morning. I really am lucky though, my family loves me best, I'm what is called a "kinkeeper", I and act as a cohesive glue through the generations. You sound like one too. Back at cha soon.

Hope I didn't frighten you with my enthusiasm in another thread. I only wanted to say how happy I was to see your friendly, positive and helpful words of kindness to Anne of the 1000 days in the Lonely thread. Generosity of spirit is rare in this world.
Hopefully, my attempt to compliment your effort has not convinced you I am some sort of web weirdo. I was trying to be encouraging.
It was exciting that you were posting to me, even as I was reading your notes to Anne, and I kinda went over-the-top. I may be an uncool boring old fart but I am not a weirdo. And I'm harmless.

Deares Johnwufnothinmatterswolfwuf,
Yes, life can be really exciting, especially if you can type fast. Actually, I believe you gave a wonderfully multiculturalistic viewpoint on the Texas thing, and about the only joke I could have told her was Oh no! You are in TexASS, the rest are rather off color and that would be completely out of caracter for me. LOL. Smily face.
But would you mind not using that word "fart" around me. I don't think you are weird or old, in fact I rather like old, I am an old soul myself. It just that being an aromatherapist and all that well, I have a smell fetish and the very thought of foul smells, well...
In any case please feel free to jump in anytime, or just be a voyeur as so many of us are here. I do have a lot of articles I want to submit, it seems such a waste, 10 years of term papers and writing assignments, research and the like, I might as well store it somewhere.

Not every one in the guide from America is from NYC. I just say I am because it's easier than explaining where my town is in New Jersey. Most people from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York say they are from New York City because they have been there several times. I go to NYC about thirty times a year. About pictures, go to the GuideML Clinic, here http://www.h2g2.com/GuideML-Clinic and you'll find out exactly how to put pictures on your page. If you get stuck leave a message there for Bruce the Guide-ML Guru, and he'll help you out...
