h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi there! Welcome to h2g2!

I'm Superfrenchie, one of the ACEs (Assistant Community Editors), that is : volunteers who help new Researchers find their way around this site, the galaxy-famous Guide to Life, the Universe and Everything.


If you're wondering what to do, now that you've found us, might I suggest you read the quick guide to h2g2 ( A42445226 ), for an overview of the site?

Or you could tell us a bit about yourself in the conversation called "Are you new to h2g2?", which you can find at the bottom of the Lounge page.



Then, depending on what you're interested in, you have quite a few options with the different forums (fora? forumses!) :
- you could have a look around Ask h2g2 ( A148907 ), which is where you can ask questions,
- or Miscellaneous Chat ( A121096 ), which is more, err, well, for miscellaneous discussions.
- If you're interested in science, try the Science Explained forum ( A4108330 ).
- And for games and fun, head to the Games Room ( A4167605 ). Quite a few long-running games there.
You will also find them all together here in The Lounge http://h2g2.com/thelounge/ (you can also get there via the handy little button at the top of the page).



Subscribing to the Announcements page ( A85834173 ) is a great idea, so you'll know when something happens!

And our newspaper, The Post, is a really interesting read too.
(you can access this week's edition thanks to one of the buttons at the top of the page).

Or you could read a couple of Entries from the Edited Guide. Or even write your own.



Also, you can find a list of the latest activity (where people are currently posting) at the bottom of the front page, or sorted by forum in The Lounge.

Or you can go to someone's personal space and have a look at their conversation list, see if something catches your eye, and dive in. It's an adventure!
To go to someone's personal space, just click on their name, and voila!

Most of all, wander around, have a look here and there, get a little lost, ask your way around, jump in... Meet the locals!

Do you know anything about guide ML I've been playing around with it all morning but sometimes (I think when I've imputted something wrong) all my coding disappears and I have to start again Ive been looking at this page A986691 but some of the useful pages that goes on to mention i'e The guide ML Clinic are not working

Ah yes, it's a known bug with the editing tool.
Pastey (our Tech Guy In Chief) has been working on it for a while, but it's proving difficult to fix.
The only solution for the moment is to copy and paste your stuff in a text document so as not to lose it if the editor misbehaves.

Oh, anything that's in pointy brackets and not a smiley won't show in a message. That's why you P tags didn't appear.

ummmmm the doesn't like the line break tags either, is there another tag that can be used that the doesn't mind so much?

Errrrm. To be honest, I haven't guideml'ed for a while, myself, so I'm not sure I can be much help...
I'll see if I can find someone who knows something.

I was trying to pop paragraphs in, but I've figured it out now. Do you know how to get some colour on to the page?
