Great to see you - another person involved with wine!!! I'm one of the ACE's or asistant community editors who are other researchers and volunteer to say hello to other new researchers - so hello and have some smiley - fishsmiley - fish.
If you click on my name and come on over to my place you will find I live in the Wine capital of NZ across the "ditch" from OZ...aka Marlborough. We do more whites rather than reds.
To help you there is a page called the ACE;'s homepage at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796 with lots of useful links and a newcomers page where you can meet more people though I see you've been posting well.
I'm sorry about the computer too...do have an old one but being out here in NZ makes it a bit silly to send ..sorry.smiley - sadface
Anyway - look forward to seeing you around ... salut ! smiley - smiley

Any luck with the name?
Perhaps you could let us know a bit about you and then everyone
could come up with a few suggestions and then you could pick
and choose to your hearts content.
I nearly came up with a great name, but as it was at 09:00 this
morning (BST), after my nightshift, and I was tucked up in bed, and
I was just in that limbo period before sleep proper, and I couldn't
be bothered to surface and try and find a pen and paper, I naturally
had forgotten by the time I woke up this evening. Typical!
Still keep me posted as to how you are progressing.

Irving Washington - Gone Writing

many people, when at a loss for a name, choose an obscure (or not so obscure) literary or movie reference. smiley - winkeye

I know but even some of the obscure ones are taken.
I had to apoligise to FATE AMENABLE TO CHANGE for almost taking his!!
The Narrator does sound good though. The search continues....
Maybe catch you later. Cheers Irving.

So... why don't you use "Jools"?

Post 8

Babel17

Sorry Irving,
I've been spending too much time in your cafe.
I won't use Jools, because despite the spelling difference
I have seen at least 4 other people use Joolsee, Jules etc.
Confusion raineth ever downwards.
Unfortunately the longer I leave it the harder it becomes.
I may have to just pick something until I finally come up
with the proverbial Jewel in the Crown, as it were.
No pun intended!

I've done a quick hunt and there is another Shiraz but there is no "Merlot" - full bodied , red blooded and unique.... possibly ?smiley - smiley

No luck for mine smiley - sadface I've been racking my brains, but I can't come up with anything smiley - sadface I've been thinking of doing a Darius Climbly, but I don't think anyone knows him smiley - sadface Likewise with Prasseur Li'Matin smiley - sadface Perhaps I should succumb to pressure and come up with something easy... perhaps Mr. Smith... Wilson Philips (tounge in cheek smiley - winkeye)... or maybe Johnny Rotten, since there seem to be a lot of snide brits about smiley - winkeye Are there any Slartibartfasts about? Or Trillians? What about Quarlijax'?

Hey Jools? I heard about this songwritter from the 1960s who had written a song aout a kid named "Julian" -- and he wanted to call it "Hey Jules" but that was sort of a mouthful. So instead he used "Jude". Maybe you could use that?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Especially the Merlot one Keeza.
However I will keep that in reserve because....wait for it....
I have finally decided on a name! smiley - bigeyes
It came to me as I was driving home last night. A quick bit of
research via my bookshelves in the house and a decision was made before retiring for the night.
It is going to be 'Babel-17'. not as in Babel Fish smiley - fish,
but as in the book by Samuel R. Delany, about a coded language used by the 'Invaders' to plot destruction against the Earth Alliance.
However I will explain it in more detail on my homepage.
By the way 'I can't come up with.....' I haven't seen any Trillians or Quarlijax as yet. Perhaps Quarlijax may be a safer bet.
Keep in touch and let us know.smiley - winkeye
