BANZAI
Posted Jan 19, 2001
Last night saw the launch of E4 the digital channel of channel 4, and on it was this fantastic new show called " Banzai".
This is a play at home betting game which asks viewers such questions as " How many helium balloons can you tie to a kitten before it takes off" or " How many chocolate cakes can a man in a shopping trolley jump over" and it is all done in the style of a japanese game show.
Perhaps to some this may sound infantile and stupid and they would be right, but it ain't 'alf funny!!!

Crouching Dragon Hidden Dragon

This chinese film was put on general release in the UK on 5th December and already I have seen it 3 times. This is one of the greatest movies ever made and I would urge everybody to go and watch what can only be described as a masterpiece of cinema, that is of course whether you are the type of person that has the capacity to handle subtitles.
Based in 19th century China this film has fight scenes that are so well shot and executed that they make the sequences in The matrix look positively dull, and don't think "Oh no not another action film" because this film is different to anything you might have seen before and I went with someone who HATES action film and they came out of the cinema speechless. GO AND WATCH THIS FILM

Buses

I have been fascinated for a long time on how people choose their seating on public transport.
Logic would dictate that the nearest seat would be the one chosen but there are variables that prevent this from happening in all cases.
Firstly there is the double seat rule that states having a seat to your own beats sitting next to an old women who smells of wee. Secondly there is the avoidance of chewing gum and other nutritional left overs.
And of course there the forward facing seats are always preferred.
Taking these into account there seems to be an odd behaviour that is extremely common, people seem to pick their seating using some chaotic maths as even with taking the above rules into account there seems to be no logic in where they sit. Some go to the back some right to the front, others sit down then decide for some unknown reason that baffles me to move to another seemingly identical seat.
