Lee Carsley has just left Everton, and i have to say that as a fan I'l miss him. A no-nonsense footballer, and a good man. He's joined Birmingham, which as well as giving him a new challenge and a longer contract than he would have got from us, it also means he can pend more time with his family, who never moved from Solihull when he left the midlands, as he has a son with Down's Syndrome, and once they had him in the medical and school systems there, he didn't want to disturb his development any more than necessary. Tehre's a good article here - http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2008/05/19/everton-star-lee-there-is-more-to-life-than-fast-cars-100252-20931895/ about it. Carsley does lots of fund-raising work for Downs Syndrome, due to his family having been affected by it.

That's about all there is to this journal entry, really. Just a thank you to someone who provided sterling service to his team, but who knows where his real priorities lie. He actually delayed contract talks for a week as he was accompanying his son an adventure holiday.

"Super" Lee Carsley is one of the most sung of unsung heroes. He'll be missed.

McKay The Disorganised

When he was a Coventry the team came out for a lap of honour at the end of the season when we were relegated.

Carsley had his son with him, and some no-necks started having a go at him - he dealt with them a lot better than I would have - especially if I'd had my som with me.

He even acknowledged the stupidity of having a lap of honour when the team had been relegated.

Very well thought of amongst Coventry fans who can think.
