ABC's television lineup for autumn 1965. From left to right, Dickie Davies, Philip Harben, Dusty Springfield, Patrick Macnee, Diana Rigg, Bruce Forsyth, Britt Eckland, Ian Hendry and... ???

Since I weren't even born yet, I feel I'm doing good to recognize just three of those faces.
However, is someone diving under the curtain between Ian Hendry and the mystery man?

No, I think that's a folded up overcoat.

It's interesting to note, btw, that Diana Rigg was sporting a more modern hairstyle while Dusty hung on to the bouffant/beehive look.
By 1965 people like Vidal Sassoon (and one or two others whose names escape me) had changed women's hairstyles from something that virtually had to be moulded and sculpted, took hours at the salon to complete, couldn't really be touched or messed with in any way and required a weekly visit to the coiffeur in order to keep it looking good, to the more sculpted, easy-to-maintain look such as the bob and the five-point. Dusty's do is stiff, solid and lacquered to within an inch of its life, whereas Diana's, while not as uber-designed as, say, Mary Quant's or Twiggy's, is free to move around, or for the boyfriend to run his fingers through.

And Britt's hair too, of course. I was just so dazzled by Emma Peel that I forgot about all other women for a moment there

I didn't recognize anyone, though that's not a huge surprise--Mom had just started her senior year of highschool, and I wouldn't be born for 8 more years

I think that might be Ian Chesterson, the first Dr Who's helper in the original series.

I can see the likeness, but I'm coming around to the idea that it might be Derek Nimmo. He worked on a handful of ABC productions in 1965. It's like him enough to put the thought in my head, but not quite enough for me to be convinced. That's not his usual haircut, which is what could be causing the confusion. This is how he normally looked, in a Steptoe and Son from around the same time http://i.imgur.com/JfXl5ok.jpg

No - it's nothing like him! More like Ed Stewart than Derek Nimmo, but it's not him either.

Was trying to follow the Avengers trail to see if I could find someone suitable who was around in 1965 but no luck yet.

There's a chance it could just be someone who never became such a household name as the others and sank without trace. Britt had recently married Peter Sellers. Brucie was already one of the biggest stars of British entertainment by 1965 and Dusty had left The Springfields and was a few years into her fantastic solo career, but Dickie Davies wouldn't be nationally well know for another three or four years when he began fronting World of Sport, and there he is with some huge stars.

Is there no one who can put us out of our misery?

He does look like he's been tagged on the end just to make up the numbers, and he hasn't linked arms like the rest, so maybe they don't know him either?
To me he has the look of a Gallagher brother about him, and a mid 60s Beatles or Dave Clark Five hair style, rather than the slicked back look of Brucie or McNee. So my guess is he was on a pop programme of some sort, or something else aimed at the youth market. I might be able to ask someone next week.

It's not a young Tarbie is it? I don't think it is, but I wouldn't rule him out either.

I don't think it's Tarbie either - the likeness isn't strong enough for me.
Did you know that before he broke into the big time he was busted for nicking a very expensive diamond-studded cigarette holder belonging to Terry-Thomas? http://www.anorak.co.uk/400403/celebrities/terry-thomas-jimmy-tarbuck-and-the-diamond-cigarette-holder-heist.html/
I love Terry-Thomas's remark to the barrister about his collar

Reviving an old thread!
I think it's an actor called David Buck. In the mid 60s he was in the ITV series "Mystery and Imagination". He was also in the Comedy film "The Sandwich Man"

He was married to Madeline Smith. Here they are together in 1975, so 10 years after the photo:
