Wow, that's a whole different level of not being able to go to the pub How do you cope???

No, not really There are plenty of other things to do in Austin, and since I now work as a bartender in a cinema I don't get much chance to go out at night anyway. But I do sometimes miss just being able to stroll down to the local and see familiar faces -the sort of pub I worked at in Chiswick before I came to the US.

Wish we had a local

Used to go to a great pub, do the quiz, know the faces etc.

Not found a substitute in our new town.

And you can end up drinking more at home 'cos you don't have to pay bar prices or walk home!

Shakin' Stevens is a genius, although he should only be approached under the right conditions. Which involve several pints, an Ole House and/or a Green Door

There's a bloke in my local I can quite happily sit beside for two hours without exchanging more than a couple of sentences. We both just stare at our beer. I always look for him for a chat when I go in Really relaxing friendship we have....

Don't do drugs kids

There's a 14 year old kid staying in our hotel, seperate room from his parents, and if I had ever partaken of an illegal substance I would say he had been smoking something totally disreputable and stunk out the whole corridor. However, me being a good little boy I of course wouldn't know of these things

Of course, I have to keep going and standing outside his room taking deep breaths to try to figure out what the smell is

Have you considered confiscating his - so to speak - gear?
