"Our maintenance team is currently working on repairing our last two known pipe leaks. Once we get these leaks repaired, we will attempt to turn the water back on. There is still a chance that additional leaks will occur at that time. If that is the case, we will continue repairing pipes as issues are found but this may result in further disruption of water service."

"If you are home right now, please open the faucets in your sinks to allow air to exit the pipes. If you are not home, disregard this message. We are going to try turning the water on shortly."

I heard the toilet cistern filling a short while ago otherwise I'd have missed this. I had *very* low pressure water for 5 - 10 minutes, enough to gather another gallon or two and start rinsing a few things. Then it stopped again.

An hour ago
"The Austin Fire Department will be here around 1:30 with clean drinking water. You must bring your own containers, but this is clean drinking water and does not need to be boiled."

All the containers I own are full and rather small and makeshift, but in the months to come I shall certainly acquire something suitable in the 5-gallon range.

I have a 5 gallon "water carrier cube". It's a collapsible plastic container with a handle and spigot. It's quite handy.

The water appears to be back on. I have my usual low pressure in the kitchen, and there's email confirmation from the office. I'll give the heater a couple of hours to do its thing and then... a shower

So, that's two of the three main problems taken care of.
1. Power - came back on last Tuesday around this time.
2. Water - fingers crossed there won't be any more leaks meaning it has to be turned off.
3. Supermarket shelves restocked - I'll find that out in the morning. I don't expect there to be a full complement. Hoping at least for eggs.

I made a cup of with water from the tap this morning for the first time in almost a week. Alas, the hot water is yet to return.

Yes, that would be me, then. As for the third item in that list a few posts back, I did get eggs. They had no milk but I already have enough in the fridge to last until next Tuesday. I'd say the shelves were about 50% full compared to last Friday. I got almost everything I needed. No, I got everything I *needed*, I didn't get a few things I wanted, like mushrooms or banana chips.

It was back on Saturday morning. I think I remember getting woken up in the middle of the night by the cistern filling noisily.

There have been many, many shutoffs since the last post here, and there'll be another today, 10am to 5pm they say, on a day when I have a load of cooking set up

The water was shut off on Friday for "emergency repairs" (again), only for a few hours, but there was warning of another one to come on Monday, which duly happened and lasted the whole day, on and off. The cold water came back on for good around 5pm but not the hot water. I hope they get that fixed today or it'll be cold showers at Christmas again just like that last time

Of course, today being Christmas Eve I had a load of cooking planned

They're bringing in portable showers. I think I'd rather have a cold one in my own bathroom.

I think I'd rather put the kettle on and use a sink full of warm water.

Still no hot water. According to the latest email it looks like they're *finally* looking at replacing the water heater. I haven't inspected the portable showers yet, preferring a stand-up wash with a flannel, the way we did it when I was a kid except on bath night.

I'm now imagining a stubborn old cuss, making a stand, refusing to shower or bath until the system is fixed, and sitting in the office lobby stinking to high heaven to make his point. That being if he was being inconvenienced, then so would management and any potential new tenants.
