Just remember, our humidity is currently 86% pushing our high 90°s temps to feel like high 100°s and low 110°s. Evaporation doesn't happen so you end up drenched within minutes of stepping outside. It almost feels like the air is sweating on you.

I know, I've heard about the Houston humidity. Ours is a little lower, but it usually adds a few extra degrees, like yesterday, when 105/106 became 109 feels-like. It can also decrease the heat index, as it did on Saturday - air temperature: 106, relative humidity: 19%, heat index: 105. And this weekend was pretty uncomfortable at work. When I left work on both days, but particularly on Saturday, I was as fatigued as I can remember for a very long time. Although we have no a/c (except in the office, break room and khazi) we have big floor fans, like domestic box fans but much bigger and far more powerful. At this time of the year though they don't do much good after about 2pm. You stand in front of them, even when covered in sweat, and you might as well be standing in front of a politician because all you get is hot air blowing over you.

And the a/c here at home went on before 7am today (it's my weekend).

Scorchio number 27 (13th consecutive). Another record-breaking one. The temperatures for later in the week are increasing and the storm chances are going down smiley - flustered

Here's the NWS overview:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Showers are developing early this morning near the coast, and a band of showers and thunderstorms located from near Waco to Palestine is slowly shifting southeast. These two areas of showers and thunderstorms will merge and expand over central portions of southeast Texas, including the Houston area, from mid morning into the mid afternoon. Given that the ground is not saturated, widespread flooding concerns are not anticipated. However, urban areas could see impacts from heavy rainfall. One inch rainfall amounts will be common today, with isolated areas possibly seeing 3 to 5 inches of rainfall. Shower and thunderstorm coverage is expected to decrease during the early evening hours.
Confidence is high that locally heavy rainfall will occur today and this threat appears to be across all of southeast Texas.
Here in Sarf Nodnol, it is P'ing down at the moment,
Nice bright start this morning but rapidly clouded over and has been showers ever since.
Also wind squalls with the showers, enough to move shop signs on the pavement about. Wind mostly from the South so reasonably warm about 65F / 18C
We're getting small, but heavy pop-up showers here. We got more rain yesterday than we got in all of July; an inch and a quarter.
The toads sound happy.
Edinburgh...
First thing this morning it was 10C / 50F outside, and the heating had kicked in at the place I'm staying.
Now 16C mostly clear but occasional showers.
