There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Scorchio number six. Around 7.30 yesterday evening I thought I heard thunder, even though there was bright sunshine. I checked the radar and yes, there were some localised patches of red in the vicinity smiley - biggrin But they didn't pass over Castle Gosho, which is a pity because the airport got 0.32" and the temperature dropped from 91 to 78.

Yesterday 98/76 (actual: 100/77)
Today 98/75 (20% chance of rain)
Saturday 99/76 (20% chance of rain)
Sunday 99/75 (20% chance of rain)
Monday 99/75

Wednesday 98/75
Thursday 99/75

Average for this time of the year: 95/74

According to the radar it's currently pelting down over Castle Gosho. *Looks outside... bright sunshine*

Well that was the strangest thing. The radar was showing a patch of deep red that passed directly over Castle Gosho yesterday evening, but the sun never stopped shining and I heard no thunder, although I did get half a dozen raindrops on the balcony. Once again though, the airport got a good hit with half an inch in a very short space of time.

I'm moving this week so I have to find yet another name for the drum. So far we've had Goshotowers, Fort Gosho and Castle Gosho (don't think I've forgotten any names).

I think I like Château Gosheau best out of those smiley - biggrin Given the dearth of activity here these days I might consider Dunpostin. Gosho Mansions is also on the radar.

By the way, the original name - Goshotowers - was inspired by John Peel's name for his own house, Peelacres. But Goshoacres doesn't really work. If only I'd chosen a different name, like, Oojakapiv, or Brantisvogan or... smiley - run

You might also be interested to know that the new place has a covered balcony (unlike this one), has no oak tree anywhere near it, and therefore...

No carpet of acorns in the autumn
No carpet of leaves twice a year
No carpet of little hard balls that are more painful to step on than an upturned plug
No carpet of pollen in the spring
And best of all - NO smiley - bleepING SQUIRREL!

At 3:20 PM CDT 0.81 inch of rain has fallen at JSC, about 0.30 of that in the past 10 minutes. Some minor street flooding and ponding of water in the usual locations, especially near construction areas is likely at JSC over the next hour.

I just stepped outside to admire the storm as a coworker was heading back inside after doing the same. I quote Dagmar (Amanda Plummer), from _Joe vs. the Volcano_, as she ominously states "I think we're in... for a blow!"

Then, suddenly, a huge thunderbolt strikes over our heads.

I couldn't help but giggle, as in the film, her quote is shortly followed by a huge (iconic) lightning bolt sinks the good ship Tweedle Dee, leaving Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan afloat in the South Pacific.
