We've managed to mostly miss the worst storms. We're in a gap with severe lines North and South of us.

I was asked by a friend to check in on her cats every few days while she's gone for 2 weeks. I stopped in today for the first time expecting two ginger cats. I only found one. She has a third cat that isn't very social, a pretty grey and white tabby. As I sat with the one inside and the door open, the grey poked his head in, looked at me for a few ponderous moments and the skittered back down the stairs. I saw the other ginger at the bottom of the steps shortly after that, but then he skittered off. It was starting to sprinkle, so I hopped on the bicycle and went home. I returned in the car. I tried again to sit with ginger #1 upstairs and the door open, but no luck. I walked outside with #1 in my arms and saw #2 in the yard next door watching me. I put #1 back inside. I went down stairs, sat on the stoop for a few minutes and #2 finally got curious enough to come greet me. So now both gingers are safe and cosy upstairs. Don't worry about the grey though. He's got plenty of shelter and food.

Also, the predicted hail and tornadoes have definitely failed to occur. There's not even any high winds.

No hail or tornadoes here either but a good steady chorus of thunder - sometimes close, mostly distant... and there goes another one as I write. It's quite a restful and relaxing sound smiley - bigeyes

The rain total for the day is in the region of 3". So far.

Totals of anything from 2.5" to 6.5" are showing up on the weather pages this morning. Camp Mabry recorded 3.3", and a station about a mile from Fort Gosho is reporting 7.44" for the past 24 hours.

But as of this morning - clear blue sky with not a wisp of a cloud smiley - biggrin If the ground wasn't wet you'd never know we'd had a drop of rain.

Here we go again...

Last night's minimum temperature - 67F/19.4C
Today's forecast maximum - 77/25 (that'll probably go higher since we're already there)
Tomorrow's forecast maximum - 55/12.8
Tomorrow night's forecast minimum - 35/1.7

smiley - headhurts

That 55 forecast for today is a bit optimistic I reckon, unless you count the 53 it was at 8am - down from 64 at 7am, followed by 49 at 9am and 44 at 10am, where it's been stuck for the last three hours.

It definitely was optimistic - the highest temperature yesterday was 45/7.2. And the 35 minimum forecast for last night was also off the mark - we didn't go below 39/3.9.

But after another relatively chilly day today, and a close-to-average day tomorrow, we've got a nice run of slightly above average and near perfect days with daytimes around 70 and mid-50s overnight smiley - ok

I think there was supposed to be some rain with this cold front, only a slim chance, but we didn't get a drop. But there's a 20-20% chance forecast starting Thursday night and all the way through to Monday night, which is as far as the forecast goes.

Today is one of those particularly chilly days we get especially here on the gulf coast. This is one of those days that catches the Northerners out. The temp this morning as I rode in before dawn was in the mid '40°s (I noticed my exterior thermometer at the house switch from 7.9°C to 8.0°C). It's been hovering around 50°F/10°C for a few hours now. Once I heard the rain chances were lowered from previous forecasts, I decided to hop on the bike. smiley - biker I'm sure many folks not from here dressed in a light jacket.

The "Feels Like" temp is exactly the same as the actual temp. The dew point is about 45°/8°C with a humidity of 82%.

But I can assure you it feels much colder than this. No, it doesn't actually feel like a blizzard or even that it's freezing. It's a very subjective cold. It just feels a hell of a lot colder than it should. The wind and humidity chill your bones. There's none of that blistering cold you get from proper cold weather that stings your skin like needles. This just really makes you wish you'd stayed inside or dressed much more warmly.

I hate that kind of cold. You get a lot of that in the UK.
