Well, we seem to be off the fairground rides at last In fact the weather couldn't be nicer - highs in the mid 70s, lows in the upper 40s/low 50s, plenty of sunshine, an occasional breeze. The only thing that's missing is some rain. No heat or a/c needed, except for a little warmth first thing in the morning. I could live with this for a while

Today's weather here is frustrating for me. The temps are perfect. It'll be nice and partly cloudy all day... once this fog dissipates.

The fog in the morning means I can't ride the bike to work. Fog for a is very dangerous. It's very hard to keep the visor clear without wiping it which leads to scratches. At least with moderately heavy rain, you can use the wind to clear the visor, but light rain and fog's small droplets just don't budge. Also, drivers are horrible in the fog. I had at least two tail-gaters on me this morning. What do they not understand about slick roads and reduced visibility?

There's this idea that we learn from our mistakes and get smarter, and more intelligent as our understanding of nature increases, right? So how come people are still doing the same stupid shit they used to when I was ten years old and listening to reports on the radio and television about accidents caused by drivers travelling too fast and too close together in fog? I mean, it's not rocket science is it

Not far from here, just a few months ago, there was that huge 145+ car pileup on I10 caused by drivers tailgating and going way too fast in fog visibility of less than 1/10th mile.

Looks like we tied the record maximum for Jan. 24th - 81°F/27.2C. But there's no global warming. I gotta say though, you can't knock eighty-degree temperatures in January Leastways, not until it's 105 in July

81 again today. That's 21F above the average for the date, but six degrees lower than the record.

And 81 again today after a really nice 67 yesterday, which is still 7°F above normal. and our minimum - that's minimum - temperature tonight is going to be 5F higher than the normal daily *maximum* for this time of the year.

Yep. I wore short sleeves and my summer mesh jacket on the ride in to work this morning. My thermometer read 68°F at 6:00am.

And I had my balcony door open at 1am last night. Just opened it again at 7.30. I slept under a thin sheet. In January

I don't think we went below 70F/21C last night. That's June/July/August kind of temperatures

I just heard thunder for the first time in... I can't remember how long

And the temperature dropped from 83 to 68 between 5pm and 6pm But 83 wasn't even the maximum temperature today - that was one degree higher.

It looks like we missed out on the rain - north Austin just caught the tail end of the squall line, but Houston might be luckier in an hour or two.

Maybe the Northside, but it looks like it's gonna skip us down here in Bacliff.

Summer... for London. This is more like Texas spring, but I ain't complaining Leastways not until the real Texas summer hits

Oh, I did not mean it was like a nice TEXAS summer day. No, more like a nice West(byg0d)Virginia summer day. They (used to) think that 85F is hot.

A nice Texas summer day is one that makes you sweat less than a gallon of water per hour.

And as we've seen in the past there's always the chance of a late hit from winter in February, or even March. PENALTY FLAG!
