Hello goshoogoshoogosh. If you need any help finding your way around h2g2 you can always ask one of the many ACEs or you cna take the h2g2 tour at http://www.h2g2.com/DontPanic-Tour . But sometimes it's just cool to "surf" around h2g2 to look at some of the things posted around. If you ever get lost or need help around here click on your "Who's Online" button on your screen and find a person with ACE in there name. They we be glad to help you.
Another cool thing to do is on the front page of h2g2 it has the busiest forums, if you post messages about the topic in the forum you are sure to get addicted to this site. That is a good thing smiley - smiley. Or you can go into the most neglected forums and get people to come to them. Anyway this site is a cool place to look around.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Thanks for the greeting Dirk (you can call me Jim if gosh3oo2 is too long to bother with). I've taken the tour, read the welcome message, and eased myself in gently at the Newcomer's Welcome Page. I've also done a whole heap of exploring links to and from forums, entries, and researcher's pages. Hell, I even managed to get an edited entry in The Guide at my first try! This is a damn fine place to have dropped into, I must say. It's like a massive collection of blogs, discussion lists, home pages, and online chat all rolled into one. This is definately the way forward for the internet AFAIC. Thank the lord that my wife and I together can afford cable access and I don't have to worry about running up a huge phone bill, cos you're right about the addiction thing! Before I found h2g2, my priority was to get myself a VW Karmann Ghia, or maybe a medium sized Harley (you prolly know that outside of NYC, the public transport in America isn't up to much - how I miss riding on the tube). Now I think it's gotta be another pc so that I don't hog this one and stop the wife getting to her email. I plan to explore some html coding and guideML to spice up my own page a little too.
Thanks again for saying hello, drop by any time.
Jim

Ok Jim, that's very good about your entries being accepted. DD (Demon Drawer) and I were commenting on that early. I think you're the first newer person I've meet with accepted entries.
You may want to goto www.walton.uklinux.net he has a very good program for GuideML.
And also I must tell you that Washington D.C.'s tube is MUCH better then NYC's, and the public transit it also nicer, but NYC's is bigger, and more vast.
And you can get a new PC, and a car if you want just make the PC not the greatest fasts thing, just right, then spend money on a car/motorcycle.
Cya around,
Dirk

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Hi Dirk

The car's on hold for the time being - I found a bus route that does the business for me, something of a miracle in this town! People here describe Capital Metro Transit this way - "Do they run on time? Yes. Do they run frequently? Sometimes. Do they go where you want to go? NO!!" But at least they only cost 50c a ride (free on Ozone Action Days), you can get a free transfer to another route, they have folding bike racks on the front (I can't see any bus company in Britain ever doing that!), and most of the time, they're pretty empty because Texans just can't be prised away from their cars (my wife drives 300 yards to the store!). Considering the lack of passengers, I reckon CapMetro does pretty well compared to an organisation like London Transport.

Jim
