h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

…and I thought of you.

I’m trying to write an entry for the EG and one of the things I need to see is an old Clint Eastwood film in which the opening titles sequence shows Clint flying in a passenger helicopter into (I think) New York City and landing atop one of the skyscrapers. It was probably NYC because I think it was the Pan-Am building.

That’s what I need to confirm, I think it was one of the Dirty Harry films but for the life of me I can’t find which one it was. I’d be obliged if you have any idea and can suggest which one.

B***** me, Coogans Bluff.

I had it firmly fixed in my mind that it was a Dirty Harry film. Though I checked IMDB I didn't think that Wiki would have had that.

I know I must have seen Coogan's Bluff - sounds like the sort of thing that would have been on British TV several times - but I can't bring it to mind. Sounds like it ought to be a western with a title like that!

I think that was precisely why it didn't register with me that that one was the one.

Coogan seems to have been a prototype Dirty Harry character which is a pity as Coogan doesn't quite fit in with my need for that shot. It would have to have been a Dirty Harry movie to fit the write up I was planning.

All I did was a little Googling.

Maybe I should add this one to my Netflix queue.

Unfortunately my Googling centred around Dirty Harry.

You could try it when you have time as it’s probably of interest to see where Dirty Harry came from. My interest was in that one title sequence, but I seem to remember it’s a fairly unremarkable film otherwise.

Let's face it - sometimes it's fun to slob out in front of something unremarkable You can't watch masterpieces all the time. We've all got favourite films that would never feature in any critics' lists.
