I hope you have the makings of a hot toddy at hand . Please take care to keep warm. Gosh I never thought that I'd react so badly to the cold but it is record breakingly cold for this area. Perhaps because as shortly as several weeks ago it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit here my body is in shock. My down parka felt good today. I wish I had some oatmeal for breakfast tomorrow.

true, but we ARE loosing our land to the seageneral erosion, I've advocated taking over the other side of the Pennines as with War of the Roses and calling THAT side Yorkshire as well. So we'll still have a Yorkshire in to the future

That almost sounds reasonable, unfortunately the present inhabitamts may not find being Yorkshiremen as that big a prize - but that is their loss.

Gracious Prof. I'm not sure if I'll be on h2g2 tonight or not. I wish you the best of New Year's Eve though. I don't think that I could ever have gotten into pub crawling as I am too miserly to pay for rounds in the UK tradition. Also I'm not that into alcohol.But I hope you have enough booze at home to have a drink or two to bring in the new year.
